Proper way to seat the Camshaft Seal?
Ok i replaced my camseal about 1 month ago. I look in the engine bay and it still seems like its leaking. Is there a proper way to seat the cam seal? I just kinda pushed it in but it sits flush.

Gotta put some sealant(hondabond,etc..) where the seal goes into.

no sealant! you need to use the proper tool to seat the seal. if you don't have that tool, find a large socket that's the same diameter as the seal and use that to gently tap the seal into place.

You obviously never replaced a Honda Cam seal. There is no special tool. You have to use an oil sealant. and place the seal in place. Its not like a regular bearing seal.

you obviously don't know what you're talking about. I've built an entire F23 engine from scratch and there certainly is a special tool, and you don't use any sealant.
from the helms manual:

from the helms manual:

Did you use a genuine Honda seal? If it's aftermarket seal it could be a right hand seal.
if you scored the camshaft prying out the old seal you'll need to use some 600 grit sand paper to clean it up, but it still might leak.

I'll see your Helms guide and raise you a Honda TSB on cam seal installation.
Special tool. No sealant.

Wow good info. Looks like i'll have to go back in there to change the seal again. The last time i changed it i did use a oem honda seal.
Looking at the TSB, it says that i can remove the cam gear without removing the timing belt? Is that true?
