Detination
When ever I accelerate fast ( 1/2 throttle or more) my car pings like no other between 2800 and 3200rpms. After I pass that range its fine untill i shift and it goes through it again. Ive put 91octane gas in and it doesn't seem to help. Octane booster doesn't help. Any Ideas?

I always thought detonation would happen at the top end of the power band........but then again, I've never experienced it.
On the extreme end of the idea list, I think you could try retarding your timing a bit.

Sounds more like a mis fire than detonation... check your spark im almost certain its a mis fire. I had the same issue i bought new spark plugs, wires, and cap and rotor since it was long overdue and it went away and hasnt come back since.
Do you loose power? Or just a rattle. If it's a rattle at a certain LOW rpms like that it's not detonation. I'd say it's something just rattling at that RPM. Open the hood and use your hand to move the throttle plate to see where the noise is coming from.

Ill check it out and make sure nothing is rattling becuse i am not getting any power loss, and if i cant find anything ill change the plugs and wires. Thanks for the input guys

detonation or preignition can happen at any time during the combustion cycle.
maybe your firing line is too high(meaning that you have high resistance..possibly broken insulators on the plug wires) that you have a real short jump on the spark plug gap. what happened to me with this type of situation was that the fuel pump was starting to die on me..did the volume test and was pretty low.
might be that you put lead additives in your gas? and it maybe corroded something in your fuel lines? is your whole ignition system still good and maintained??
i hope something works out for you.

well i gave a visual check to my wires and plugs and do not have any broken insulators and the plugs are properly gapped. When the motor was running and i had my head in the engine bay it seemed like there was a rattle coming from behind the intake manifold. I didn't see anything loose and i couldn't see exactly what it was. I am going to do a volume test on my fuel pump as soon as i get a chance.

The maintenance required light is just a timer circuit. It has no real meaning. The Check Engine Light does have meaning.

Your maintenance required light must have been reset at a weird *** mileage. Press and hold the black button underneath your dash to reset it.
