Default YOU can help me. Hard decision! Si or DX for the B16???

So here is the deal.

I have a gold 89 DX Hatch, it has 198,000 miles, A/C, PS, brown interior, it is an automatic, but it runs really well for its age (or so I think). I was thinking of saving up for the B16 swap and then swapping in a 5 speed also. This would cost some time and money, especially going from the DPI and stuff like that.

Here is the dilemma.

I was thinking it would maybe be more worth my time to save up, and instead of getting a B16 trying to buy a clean 89 Si Hatch, with a good body and good interior, but that doesn't really run well. This would hopefully mean I could get it for pretty cheap because I don't really care if it runs as long as the body and interior are clean and the rest of the car isn't crap. Then I was thinking of selling my current Civic and buying the B16 motor with that money and swapping the motor into the Si, which will already have the ECU I need (I think), already have th stuff for a 5 spd, and already have rear disc and such.

So what do you think? I want any opinions on this! So please tell.

Should I swap into my gold civic or try to take more time and such to swap into an si?

DX all the way! You will save weight and a gold car with brown interior = super sleeper!

i hate sunroofs so i would stick with the dx..plus you already have the car so might as well use it..its gonna take time and money to locate a clean si ,,

Well one thing that I was thinking was that my DX has a lot of really new parts, but they are all motor parts. Like it has new half shafts and other such things like that, but those wouldn't really matter if swapping out motors.

Anyone else??? Suggestions?

the Si hatch will not have the ECU you need and Si hatches do not have rear disc brakes

Looks like I should just try to rock my DX. I am not looking forward to an automatic to manual tranny swap though. And as for the brown interior, that is in the process of being changed.

Hmm.. your second plan sounds like it would be easier since you wouldn't have to do the auto to manual swap. I say go for the SI if you can find one, if not.. give rebirth to the gold DX. It would make one serious sleeper.

BTW, off topic what kind of paint did you use to paint your steelies black? I have my old 13s sitting in my garage and I painted them black awhile ago with high temp gloss black paint but it kept slowly chipping off.. did you prep them and everything?

Plasti-kote semi gloss black wheel paint. Roughed up with sandpaper, cleaned and then applied a crap load of light coats.

How did you know what the wheels looked like anyway?

Si all the way bro. I've realized that the Si trim comes in handy alot. I mean from the extra, small features and things such as not having to drill holes for my sway bar . Personally, I like the sunroof. Its worth the weight, besides who can resist the Si interior...

Take this for weight: My Civic Si with bone stock internals from the bottom up ran a 13.8. I'm almost positive that was a track screw up. The next week a ran once and got a 14.4 and it was pretty bad, no joke.

I like sunroofs too, but I would rather work on an aftermarket one or something. I am still thinking about it so we will see what happens.
