smokin bad
recently i semi rebuilt my bottom end. After replacing my rod bearings, i decided to put new pistons and rings in my car while it was apart. 91 ls) I bought p 73 type r pistons 11 to 1 compression. After puttin everything back togehter, my car is smoking very bad. White smoke is coming out the tailpipe and its burnin oil like crazy. NO signs of headgasket leaking. Number 4 cylinders exhaust port is full crudded up oil and this has happened within bout 3 days. The spark plug for the same cylinder keeps foulin out due to excessive oil on it. Anyone know what the problem could be.
Did you hone the cylinders when the rings were replaced?
Sounds like your rings didn't seat properly and will most likely have to be replaced. Do a compression/leakdown test to make sure.

yeah, im not sure why they wouldnt have seated properly, i have checked for any ridges or marks and there is none. THe motor was damn near perfect cept for rod bearings. How many miles does it normally take to seat a set of rings?
How and what did you hone it with?
It is debated on how long it takes for rings to seal, but it is done relatively soon. When I replaced my piston rings, there was no smoking at all during the first startup.
