Default help me pick my sub and amp combo

i just got a new truck and im in need of some bass. I listen to 50% rap 25% rock 25% metal. Im looking for a good mix of spl and sq if that possible.
I had a jl audio 12w6v2 (In a H2 stealth box) and a jl 500/1 in my last truck and i was not impressed one bit. I also had a Rockford BD1000.1 and 2 kicker L7s (sealed box) in a EG and it was awesome.
I plan on doing a custom ported or vented box this time with two 12 inch subs (mainly for looks) Im a brand ***** so JL and Alpine are at the top of my list . I have a jl 500/1 laying around my house if that matters
I am using the stock Harmon cordone head unit in my SUV with the stock speakers. i plan on using the JL audio Clean Sweep to get the signal to the amp and use my IPOD
Maybe 2 alpine type x's and 2 Alpine MRD-1005 amps? or 2 jl 500/1 and 2 12 w6s ?
i would like to be able to control the level from the driver seat so i can make the sub bump when i listen to rap and play lower when i listen to metal. will have 2 amps screw this up for me ?
any help would be awesome thanks guys

Go with Hifonics amps. they have POWER. And personally I dont like W6's. It is hard to get them to play right. I am real big on W3's. HIFONICS and JL is a great combination. I installed 3 W3's with a Hifonics Zues monoblock in a mini truck and it cracked the windshield.

as for the bass control alpine makes most of their head units (if not all just the ones ive seen) with subwoofer controls right in them so as for having 2 amps i dont think it would be a problem considering they would both have to be plugged into the head unit. as for the type of sub, **** you must really love bass i mean if your thinking about type X subs thats a lot. you could always go w7, or rockford T1. as for amps rockford makes a great amp and they are generally cheaper then most others without flaking on selling a good product. rockford p3's hit pretty hard as well, but if you want more bass i suggest a ported box the sound is 10 times deeper.

There's W6V2 and the oldschool W6 (v1). The JL W6V2 are great subwoofers, 2x12W6V2 and 2x500/1 would be pretty damn loud. I personally love the JL W6V2/W7 lineup subwoofers and there amps.

i like the W3's also, they are CRAZY loud and are ALOT cheaper than the W6's.

as for the electrical, your truck should have a big alternator and battery,so a 1 or 1.5 farad capacitor would do you right. the rule of thumb is 1 farad per 1000 watts.

2x12" W6V2 + 2 500/1 would probably be cheaper, and I am a hardcore JL Audio fan over Alpine.

No I did not say to stay away from Alpine. I like Alpine, I just like JL Audio more. Alpine's head-unit are awesome.

Dont get me wrong W6's are great subs but its hard to get a good tone out of them. They are installer friendly but I like tight and accurate bass and W3's give me that. As far as being not to different from a W7 I would have to disagree. The W7 is far superior in every way. A 13" W7 is AMAZING!!!! Nothing comes close to that subwoofer.

If you are looking for high spl go with W3's they are cheaper and they will blow the W6's out of the water.JL mono amps are great. JL MONO/JLW3"s.

2x12" W6V2 would do more SPL then you would need most likely. W3 over W6V2? You're kidding me. I guess everyone has there own opinion, but W6V2 would destroy W3's in every way you can put it. W6V2 Are one of the most, tight, accurate bass subwoofers that I know. I used to have one in my integra, single 12" W6V2 with a RF BD1001 and it was ridiculously accurate, crisp, clean, deep, and nice.

your setup was in a hatch so it is going to sound different that it would in a truck. There is not a whole lot of room in a truck so you have to take that into consideration. Sine he already had a W6 and was not impressed then why go and buy the same thing? I have installed W3's in truck so I know what they are capable of. That is why I say W3's over W6's.

Kicker solobaric L7's require too much air space and it is just not going to sound good in the trucks cab. If redline201 wants to keep a "stock" appearance then he needs to get subs that dont require a lot of air space. That is why every system sounds different, music sounds different in different cars. L7's would be LOUD in a hatchback but you put the exact same sub, enclosure & amp in a sealed trunk and it is not going to sound the same.

L7's are loud. That's about it. Sq kinda goes out the window.

You should have said you had a Range. Then the possibilities are endless. You can get 3 15" JL W3's or 1 13" JL W7. Personally I would go with the W7 with the 1000/1 JL MONO Amp with either of these subs.
