I'm working on my car right now trying to figure out what the hell this rattleing is. Is gotta be a heat shield. it hits at 3000rpm every time. My best bet is the heat shield over the stock headers.

Yeah, that heat shield is a piece of crap. Take it off even if it isn't that, because in time it will rattle.

 

ya i am taking that off 100%
But just incase that isnt it what else could this rattle be?

 

i had a rattle on my ep3 that i thought was the heat shield.

when i started poking around the engine bay while it idled, it wasn't coming from the shield. it was coming from the passenger side of the engine bay.

took it in, turned out it was a bad pulley bearing on the water pump. dealer replaced it under warranty. only found one other owner who had the same problem.

The only other rattle I had on my car was the valve cover, where does the sound seem like it is coming from? What exactly does it sound like?

 

it sounds like its coming from the mid engine. It rattles when im driving always at 3000rpm.

 

I ******* FOUND IT!!!! WOO HOOO thanks guys. It was a heat shield.I took off my heat shield over my headers cuz no matter what im taking that off. Start her up and expletive! its still rattling so i look under the hood and listen again as my friend revs and im like "whats that shield there?
I hit it with my rachet and i was like ok it has to be that. it was a shield over i dont know what! but it was a bitch to get off it was wrapped around somthing but i dont need it and no more rattle for me
