Default h22 with h23 automatic?

My friend is getting a h22 for his prelude that came with a h23 and automatic. Will the auto bolt up and work with the h23 automatic? If so, anything special need to be done?

That is what I said but he is very broke and he has a new tranny but I don't wanna get under there and start finding out that it won't work. He already is strapped for time. He found a 97 H22A with 30,000 miles in Cali. So he is set on trying to use the auto otherwise it is back to the stock H23. The only reason he is doing the swap is because he has to, the H23 broke a rod and messed up the internals really bad.

I dont see why the auto wouldn't work, but not with a P13 ECU. You would have to choose between VTEC and the auto. Or use the H23 ECU and run the VTEC off of a V-AFC. One of the techs at work swapped a H22A4 into a 92SI and still uses the SI manual trans.

let me get this straight...you "friend" is gonna swap in a H22 VTEC in his 4th Gen Lude and he wants to know if the Auto tranny will bolt-on properly?

What is this some sort of sick joke?!?

seriously though, tell your "friend" get the manual tranny like everyone is suggesting. Your "friend" will thank us later.

Well thanks for the suggestion but that is not what I needed to know. I do need to know that if the auto will work or not. If so what is exactly need, just the p13 and v-afc. If he needs these than he might as well get the stick.

He needed the car fixed yesterday and doesn't have the money to get the stick right now. He knows that he will be sorry. He is not into fast cars but really likes he lude and figured why by another stock engine for the same price when he can get 30 more horses.

So PLEASE jsut help him out and answer the questioin will it work and what needs to be done!

An H23 ecu (P14) and a vafc will do a shitty job of controlling an H22. I know from a friend's experience, it runs crappy.

I didnt say it would run perfect, I said it would work. And if tuned properly it should run decently. My friend who did this ran a 15.10 with his car set up this way.

You said he doesnt really race the car, tell him to leave it the way it is and he just wont have VTEC. The car will otherwise run fine.
