Default SOHC engines

well im in the market for an sohc engine for a 88 dx crx. i was planning to save up for a while to get a b18b but the engine in the car right now is finally about to give up. basically im asking for some suggestions on what d series engine to get. in the long run i plan to make an n/a build for the engine. right now im looking for a d16z6 used locally, might order a jdm d15b 92-95, or might get soem other parts to build a mini-me. could you guys give me some info on which engine i should be looking for and is better to build? thanks in advance everyone

Why bother getting work done to it if you want a B?

I would get that local motor and keep saving.

thanks for the reply
i didnt think the stock engine would go out that fast so i was just gonna save up for the b series. since the motor's gonna give out soon, decided to just build an sohc instead of getting the b series.

more suggestions please

z6 requires some dexterity in the distributor mounting (eek), i'd get a replacement for your current motor and wait for the B.

I reckon you could get a d15 for $50-100 if u look around.

thanks for all the replies!
well tomorrow ill be heading for the junkyard to look for some parts and if i do find a motor less than 100 and would last for atleast half a year that would be fine for now and i could also save up for the bseries. still looking for a z6 or y8 motor locally at the moment though. so if i cant find one, ill be at the junkyard for the temp. motor
any body have more opinions?

Buy a spare D series OBD0 block and head. No need for all the nick nacks. When your engine dies (you would be surprise at how long it will last on its last leg), swap over everything off of yours. Saves you money.
