How to remove Tint?
Hi,
I want to get new tint on my 92 Accord, but the tint place wants $170 to remove my existing (or whats left of it) tint.
What is the best way to remove tint?
I figure the windows will be easy enough. But what about the rear window which has defrost?
Thanks,
Scott

i used a razor blade. none of the other techniques worked
i was just careful around the lines, but i did slice a few which made it not work no more.

I soaked mine in soapy water, took a hair dryer and used a razor blade. Was very easy, just make sure not to scratch your windows..
As for the rear, I really dont know.

razor blades on the front window's and rubbing alcohol and fine grade steel wool for the back window. if you have a steamer or know someone who does that works great.
I would try to make a deal with the shop to lower the price, the tint job will come out better if the shop does the cleaning

i just pulled mine off last week.....pull off the film then get one of those thingies that hold the razor blades in and some windex. spray the windex on and scrap the adhesive right off.
It's really easy.
Go to a grocery store and get a bottle of ammonia. It's like $1. Mix that with some water, about half and half in a spray bottle. Spray it on your windows. Let it sit for 3-5 mins. Use a razor blade and scrape it off. You can get it all off in one piece. Then, just go back over with the razor on the bare glass and get all of the residue off. As for the rear, I just left my tint on there...
It will work. I did it to mine about 2 months ago.

with garbage bags, spray windex all over the tinted window, place the trash bag over the windex soaked window, and let it sit out in the sun for 30 mins or so....tint will either peel right off in one piece leaving very little or no residue, or fall right off by the time you get back

Then you take a shitload of windex and spray it all over the window and place the trash bag up against it. The windex will make the bag stick to the window. Make sure you park your car in direct sunlight, I think that's part of the reason it worked so well for me is because Arizona is hot as expletive in the day. Do this to all the windows and let them sit for a while to bake in the sun. The trash bag will absorb heat from the sun and thus cook the windex which causes the tint adheasive to sweat. Just make sure the trashbag doesn't dry on the window and you should be fine. Then after about 30 min or so (may take longer depending on how hot it is where you live) go out and remove the bags one window at a time and pick the edge of the tint up w/ a razor blade and you should be able to peel it off all in one sheet. Most of the adheasive should stick to the tint and not the window also, resulting in little cleanup. </TD></TR></TABLE>
ok first hairdryer the window for atleast 3 minutes do around it like your mowing the grass but with the hair dryer on your window. Then while its warm see if you can peel it off slowly tho so it dont rip, then get out some windex and razor blade it off while squirting it with windex
