Default Hatch molding question....(maybe its not called a modling, but its like a piece of molding....)

Ok, on the drivers side of my hatch, I have a piece of rubber/maybe plastic? that doe'snt stay where its supposed to. You can put it into place, and it will stay there for a while, but after maybe 3 times opening/closing the hatch, it does this:

My question is, has anyone ever had this problem, and if so, what did you do to fix it? I was going to get an adhesive sealant, and just put it in the crevice and hold it in place till the adhesive stared adhering. Are there any better ideas, aside from replacing the molding? Or is replacing the only real option? Thanks!
