yeah, that's the downpipe to my Megan Racing header, snapped off thanks to pressure from the lower tie bar. Hooray for me.

Question. will handling be offset if i have just a front upper strut tower bar and take this lower bar off for good?

Oh and feel free to laugh at my misfortune.

i don't think strut bars add or take away any pressure at all... they're only there to keep everything rigid. My guess is the header snapped because you didn't re-use your spring bolts not because of a tie bar. But that's just my $.02

I know they aren't designed to add pressure, what i mean was (and sorry its not very clear from the angle of the pic) the tie bar actually rolled backwards (it was slowly shifting upwards due to scraping the ground when my car was slammed) and pushed up against the header pipe.

I have to agree with him. You should have used bolts and springs to allow for movement. That and your header is a pos lol

well definatly take that lower tie bar off, they don't do that much anyways. Now if you really want to stiffen up down there go for an H-brace, i've seen them for $65 shipped and from what i've heard they're awesome but not reccomended if you're still slammed. Personally i would replace that header and get some spring bolts on to prevent this from happining again.

eh, megan racing headers are like half the price of DC, good bang for the buck I think. Woulda lasted longer for sure without the shitty suspension setup I was on before.

Thanks for answer the question about the lower tie bar though, i'll look into an h-brace.

Cracking is pretty common if you don't use a flex joint.

If you are a tie bar freak like me you should look into the integra lower tie bar (OEM). They came with one that is by the steering rack and bolts right into civics.

I would have noticed a noise problem before any drivability problem

trust me, the first thing i noticed was the noise but it happened at high end rpm so I was convinced the noise was a motor problem and not an exhaust problem until I spotted it.
