Hey guys Thinking of getting a ep3 Tell me what you think
i will try and get pics up later but there is a black 03 ep3 at a dealer my friend works at and he is able to get it to me for 13.5k with 37k miles.. its in very nice condition and its black, is that a good price? and what are some dislikes that you guys have of the ep3's .. i currenty just got rid of a 2004 infinity g35 cause of a accident. so im in the market again. Thanks alot in advance.
its a 03 si, well the payments on the g35 were big as hell but if i had more cash i would for sure get a g35, i just dont want to be broke every month after making a big payment
why dont you get an rsx type s i mean if you were thinking of getting a g35 im sure you can afford payments on a type s
i just got rid of a g35 i totald it, the ep3 is at a dealer for a good price, their isint a rsx-s there i was wondering if that was a good price for a ep3 37k miles 03
I dont know about the price out there, sounds a touch high for around here, but check these guys out http://www.edmunds.com, just do their used car appraisal.
I have really enjoyed my ep3 for the last couple of years. The car is not underpowered stock, it just doesnt have a ton of power. There are of course several ways to add power if you should desire. I think the hard thing for you will be coming from almost 300 hp to 160 hp will be a big difference and it may feel like you are never moving.
Having said all that most guys it seems start working on suspension, tires and brakes first. The car handles pretty well, but with some coilovers and the right rear sway bar it will corner a lot better. If it still has stock tires you will want to replace those also.
I dont have any downsides that I hate about the car. The seats are very stiff and dont have lumber support (I drive a lot and that hurts my back some), I had to replace a drivers side window weather strip when it tore. Besides that stuff I havent had a bit of trouble.
If you buy it and it doesnt have the HFP wing already on it be sure to check out Norm Reeves Honda on ebay for the wing hookup. Makes the care look SO MUCH better.
Good luck!

leave it alone and look on the market for a rsx type s. It will be well worth the wait and its not gonna kill you with payments dont worry. just wait it out i say.

im in the market for an Ep3 as well. im going to go with the CTR hatchwing (that is, if i can find one for cheap), and CTR skirts and front lip.
how do you guys feel about the shifter being up there? i noticed the're no arm rest. oh, and hows the stock sound system?
thanks

I bought my 03 with 18k miles 1 month ago for 13999. I was driving a 02 GTI pushing 20lbs of boost and yes it feels slower, but its alot more fun to drive. It reminds me of my old S/C'd 93 SI hatch. Just a little bit slower.
The price is ok.. As long as the car is in good condition ofcourse.. But I don't know about moving from a G35 to EP3 unless you're gonna slap a turbo kit on it right away... The most irritating thing about EP3 is that, it's SLOW.... Other than that , it's just a pretty hatch that's useful and ideal for your daily driving needs and still be able to have fun with (assuming u know what you're into)...

Make sure if you get CTR stuff you get USDM CTR stuff. I would really recommend the HFP rear wing, it's oem bolt up, factory paint and looks just like the CTR.
I like the shifter up there. I feel like you can get to it faster than between the seats without adding a longer shifter lever. I dont miss the car not having an arm rest, but then I have had two years to get over missing one, so maybe I missed it at some point???
I think most of the younger guys would say the stock system sucks, but an old guy like me thinks its fine for all the ESPN radio I listen to. I spend a substantial amount of time in the car during the week, it's my work car, so I get to listen alot, I think the stock system does pretty darn good. The only think I am thinking about adding is XM radio.

as for the engine. i think im going FI. RevHard Stage 1. and change my internals so i can boost up to 27 lbs safely. sleeved block with pauter stroker kit.
ive also heard that the KPro is better with a turbo for this car because it's "retuneable". im still not very clear on that can someone please elaborate?
and thanks to giff74 for your help

i guess ill throw in my 2 cents lol.... um i got a 02 nbp ep3 close to 2 years ago with 29,000 miles on it for 12,500 tax title tags the whole nine yards... i love the car the sound system is good but not the best it has good clear quality sound but if your wanting bass go buy a sub....... as far as the shifter goes its great i love the car its got the best the funest car that i have ever driven...... and if you really want to get the ep3 get it just remember that the motor and drive train out of the rsx-s is pretty much plug and play for the ep........ just my 2 cents

The shifter's position is great! It's right where a shift lever is supposed to be. If I have a choice, I wouldn't get a car without a dash shifter in the future. I don't miss any armrest either, partly because my old '86 Si didn't have one to speak of. I'm also not the kind of person to rest my hand on the shifter (not good for the tranny, right?), so I don't complain about my right arm feeling tired.

There are better OEM systems out there, but honestly, the stock one is fine. I had a clean, basic, loud system in my older Si, and apart from adding an audio-in jack, I haven't done anything to the EP's. Those other, better OEM systems still aren't good enough for a lot of car audio junkies anyway, and if you replace the EP's, you're not throwing away much.

In short, with KPro, you can change spark, fuel, cam timing, and whatever else. It also logs data to make street tuning much easier. KPro is pretty much the way to go if you have mods beyond i/h/e boltons (the stock ECU makes good corrections for i/h/e stuff, and it still allows 87 octane).

Thanks alot for all your input guys, i would def need to put a turbo on it to feel as fast as the g35, i use to have a 89 crx and a 94 integra so i like hondas just ended up getting the g35 and totaling it, now back to hondas i guess. maby if i find a rsx for cheap i would get one of those, im pretty much just looking at anything honda/acura right now. Thanks again lots of great input
It's a pretty entertaining car.
Put Falken Azeni tires on it and it's surprisingly more fun to drive than the comparable Scion Tc or Mazda 3 hatchback.
All in all, it's a small little motor stuffed into an absolutely beautiful chassis. I'd say the chassis dynamics are second in its class to only the Ford Focus. Luckily, the motor is swappable.

Agreed with everyone here the EP is a great all around car depending on what you want to do with it.
It might be slow in comparisson to a G35 or other cars, but when you can swift through traffic with ease it's becomes very fun.
My .02 cents.
Good luck with the buy.

I got my 2003 EP3 in Aprill for 13,400 with 55k miles on it. But it was Honda certified and all that. I also have a supercharged 350z. The Si doesn't even compare to my Z, even when the Z was stock. So if you're moving down from a G35, you're probably not going to like it. It's a lot slower. But it is pretty fun to drive and it gets good gas mileage. The shifter takes some getting used to, but it's actually pretty cool. It feels a lot better than it looks. The stock system is not so good. But it's nothing a new head unit won't fix. Overall, the Si is a great daily driver.
