Technical Question b16a1 vs b16a2
Greetings,
I'm a newb to this sort of thing and am trying to educate myself on the swap possabilities on a 93 del sol. I have narrowed down the various possabilities given my current financial situation to the b16 (although the other possabilities are certainly tempting). Recently I came across a JDM b16a1 for a decent price what I wanted to know what the exact differences between the b16a1 and the b16a2 are (beyond the horsepower increase from A1 to A2)? Is there another site where I can find the info? If I were to get a A1 am I limiting myself a great deal? any info and input is appreciated.

Depends on which year the B16A is from. If it's 1st gen, then the HP is no different from the B16A2. The only different is the OBD. However, the 2nd gen B16A has 10 more HP than the 1st gen and the A2. But basically, the different B16s are different OBDs.

all jdm b16s are b16a and anything with a number after the b16a part like b16a2 means its a USDM motor. obd 0 b16a from the civic SiR and integra XSi had 160hp and the obd 1 b16a from the SiR2 civics and integra XSi had 170 hp. the number of the engine doesnt tell you how much power it has just where and what it came from.

There is no difference. The reason why its A2 is because its OBDII. And A3 is OBD1
