tl-s swaps are common into 98-02 accord v6s. there was a civic in super street a long time ago with a nsx swap, but if you have to ask how to do the swap, you probably don't the knowledge much less the tools or fabrication skills to complete a swap of this difficulty.

the answer is no.

putting the 3.2L into the civic would be extremely difficult. Besides having to make custom mounts the engine most likely wont fit between the radiator and the firewall without being streched. I would say this swap would be pointless and for the money in custom fabrication would cost much more than getting something like a K series and dropping it in.

thank you for the input guys. i know it will be extremly difficult. its now going to be just me workin on it. its 5 different other guys that will work on it. we have a big garage and all the tools necesay. we have a frame puller and everything.

my cuzin is a dealer and we buy cars from auction fix them then sell them. we've worked on really bad cars for many years. this IS indeed the first swap we are going to do. other then normal swaps (right motor into right car)

we are thinking of doing it we didnt start yet.. i posted here because here are very many knowledgeble guys and see what you guys have to say bout this.

thanks for the input and keep it coming

just don't do it man.. the normal tl engine is only 215 hp... u could get close to those numbers with a h22 or k-swap. there aren't really any writeups on this site. the only precedent for doing the swap is a nsx-swapped civic that is competing in pro fwd (drag racing). google "civic with nsx swap" and it should come up.also the sohc v6 engine weighs a great deal more than a civic chassis is intended for

Since he is talking about the 3.2L from the Second gen TL then it has 225hp stock not the 215 you stated. As for it fitting it is gonna be alot of work because you will probably need to have around 6 or so extra inches between the radiator and the firewall to cram that engine in there. Also you will have to make custom mounts for both the radiator and the a/c because the stock civic radiator will not provide enough cooling efficiency for the big v6. beyond that there might not even be enough room side to side to fit the v6 (j series v6's are pritty wide blocks) and the 5 speed automatic tranny between the main frame rails. All in all if you pull it off it would definatly be something unique and it would be a nice ride with alot of low end torque but it will definatly cost some major money in custom fabrication to get it done. GL to you and your project and let us know how it turns out

thank you.

we've measured and it barely fits... we are going to do it starting august, thats when the main mechannic is coming from europe.. ill will post updates... i will go to the garage and measure and will post.

one more question. will it be able to make custom brakets and use the stock mounts???
top of my head seems like it could work...

I would think you would need a whole custom subframe for the civic. If there is some way to get the front subframe off the tl and customize the civic to accept that I would think that would be best. Other than that the 2 side mounts might work but most likely they wont without some creative machining

I say do it! If you have the car + motor + time + a lot of beer and aspirin then who gives a ****? I'm sure you just don't want this motor to go to waste which is what these guys don't understand. Anything is possible.

Try the fabrication forum for this question. Lots of unique setups can be found in there. I have seen a Mid engined H22A Integra done as well as a mid engine Del Sol. If you can't fit in the front reasonably with too much money invested, just mount it in the back. If money isn't an option, then your frame puller would be a nice way to get the motor in the rear...you have a frame jig?

Who cares...do it!!! Post pics too.
