Quick & easy article at hondata.com --

http://hondata.com/techk20general.html

FYI: RSX Type-S in 2002-04 had the K20A2 engine. Base RSX and EP3 have the K20A3 engine; base RSX has plastic dual-length intake runners, EP3 has basically the same intake manifold as the Type-S.

There's a lot of info out there -- keep digging and you'll find it.

just another little help for you.
K20A3 comes in the RSX non-S and EP3
k20A2 is the S motor.

the k20a3 claims to have i-vtec but you wont' hear a x-over of vtec because the k20a3 i-vtec system essentially kicks in at around 3000 rpms or something liek that. its basically en economy vtec. what happens is that it stays in "vtec" mode once you pass a certain rpm, so if you were to punch it you will not hear vtec cross over, its like fake vtec i guess you can say..
even putting on i/h/e you won't hear a x-over.

if you want to feel/hear vtec, you have to get the S as that has real vtec.

there's an article floating around everywhere about this information.
it might be even posted up in the ht forums..
good luck though

Same here, I would have kicked myself in the *** picking a base model.... I was actually thinking about it too - so I wouldn't be tempted to mod my car

Ok...

the EP3 is the 02-05 Civic Si which has the K20A3 motor...aka fuel ecomony car. It is also the same motor in the base model RSX. Pushing a whopping 160hp. That article from hondata explains things very well, so I won't do it again. They say this motor has iVtec, but not really, a different form of it, and a tricky marketing tool.

So there is no difference engine wise (that you should ever worry about) between the 02-05 Civic Si and the Base RSX. The RSX Type-S (K20A2) has the "performance motor, aswell as the new 06+ Civic Si (K20Z3).

So anyway, hope that answered your question. If you want to know anything else...ask away.
