Default navigation system/Illuminated steering wheel??

Q&A:

1. I have an '04 Accord EX-L 4DR - 4 cylinder. Is it possible to have the dealer install a navigation system in this model in the dash/radio position?? Was it originally an option?? Is there an after market version in the dash/radio position? How much are we talking about here?

2. Is there a "fix" for the lack of the Illuminated steering wheel in this model??

Thanks

that is going to cost a shitload of money. and the dealer is going to break your *****. youre going to have to at least replace the entire console with the navigation version. of course they make gps systems to fit a 2din space or a flip out one for a 1din, but you will have to buy the aftermarket console replacement to allow for a aftermarket headunit, which im told is crap.

costwise i think this was a 2-3 thousand dollar option for the EX, its do-able but it will cost a lot. are you thinking of buying the parts from the dealer?

maybe you could find a nav system from an acura or something that you could get to fit in that little cubby above the shifter, people have done it and it looks ok. or just get a garmin for your windshield and be done with it

i dont know what youre talking about the illuminated steering wheel, like the CC buttons? mine light up, do you mean theyre broken or they never lit up

remo,

Yes, the illuminated steering wheel controls i.e. CC, radio controls etc. - do not light up, and are extremely annoying at night. The dealership tells me that it was an "oversight" in the '03-04 models. I guess they must have fixed the problem with the '05 models....

Thanks for the info on the Nav. I think I will pass on it...

no problem man, i looked into doing the nav myself and decided it wasnt worth it. that sucks that the steering wheel doesnt light up, thats kind of a big screw up in the design. if you really want to change something i would look into that, it might be just a matter of replacing the buttons w ones from an 05. who knows how much that costs tho

I have the 03 and don't find it that difficult to figure out where the buttons are, even in the dark. I've used them enough, so I don't have to look down to see where they are, just feel for them with my thumb. What's the big deal? You would probably have to run wires for the lights. I guess it's easier for me because I drive mostly with my left hand.

BLKFLSH,

I agree, the buttons are not hard to find at all, but it still sucks to not have them illuminated.. I was wondering, since you the the '03 V6, have you had any of those brake problems I have heard about. Pads and rotors being replaced at 15K..????
My rear pads are down to 10% at 43K already...very weird.

Thanks.
