Default CAR DIED no spark coming from coil, unsure about ignitor wiring results

car died today while i was driving it. my car had been acting a little strange on start up for about a month. it would crank for 4-5 seconds before it would start. the starter cranks fine and the battery seems okay since the lights are pretty bright when i turn them on. i have a fuel pump kill switch which i will check tomorrow. i checked all the fuses under the dash and the fuses in the engine bay and they were all okay. there are no check engine lights. i just checked for spark, no spark. im kinda hoping it was something simple like a main relay. #2 plug that was removed to check for spark looked dry and had brown and black-grey soot on it. i think thats normal. main relay clicks twice but not sure if i hear it when i try to start the car. the fuel pump was making this odd whirring noise after it broke down when i was cranking the engine over, not the normal fuel pump noise when you go to start the car, but a funny noise, but that has since stopped. i have read other posts in the past but am kinda stumped on where to start first.

so what should i check, i dont have a multimeter but im pretty sure i have a test light sitting around somewhere. does the main relay affect spark too? i thought it only affected the fuel pump. should i be looking at replacing my ignitor to see if thats the problem? i dont have any spare parts lying around so everything will have to be bought

I would check your distributor or your plug wires (since you have a "no spark"). You could change your sparks plugs if need be cuz that'll help too.

oh yeah, wires are about 6 months old, they are ngk wires and ngk plugs, they are 6 months old also. fuel filter was also replaced about 6 months ago. i think i have some spare ngk plugs sitting around i can try. its the ignitor on the distributor i check right?? i looked at the online manual and couldnt find a pic of the ignitor.

okay, im a dumb ***. my fuel pump does prime, the kill switch was on. i dont have any spark. so i should look at the distributor right? im thinking it may be the ignitor. does the ignitor usually cause the car to not want to start up immediately when cold? i will be taking the distributor cap off and checking things. no CELs.

EDITED i took off the distributor cap and there was a pin thing sitting on top of the coil. isnt it supposed to be attached to the distributor cap? i checked the + and - wires going to the coil with the ignition in the on position and both ones lite up with a test light. i tried seeing if i could get spark coming from the coil when i cranked it by hold a spark plug wire close to it and no spark. i checked the wires coming out of the ignitor. the white/blue and black/yellow ones light up when key is on the ON position. am i supposed to check the white and blue ones also with the ignition on? i checked them with the ignition on and off and the test light does not light up. i was going off of the article below and now im stuck on what to look at next. wheres tyson or mr speaker when you need them.
