10 Years Ago... Import / JDM Scene Flashback (no way 56k)
I figure since some of us old skool folks were posting up memories, I'll post up some stuff I found while back at home awhile ago. I have some older stuff but I figure I'll keep it within the "10 years ago" time frame. I also went to Japan at that time to hang out with family & friends and went to the Honda Showroom in Aoyama so I have a some brochure pics below, along with the car pricelists (I grabbed a few of each and they're all in brand new condition still, among some Mugen stuff
). I also have just about every SCC, Super Street, Turbo, etc, magazine issuse that came out since 1995 until 2001 (then after that they started to get shitty), all still in brand new condition. I should sell it to some madd JDM lover for some cash
Anyways, on with some things that I thought stood out. I have pictures that I took myself on film from Japan and race events back then but I'm too lazy to look for them and scan them in.
With "Battle Of The Imports" in So Cal, we had NIRA in Nor Cal

January 1996 issue of both Turbo & SCC mags (Super Street wasn't around yet)

July 1996 issue first showing the Integra Type R and talking about it coming to the US

My friend knew this guy pretty good. I remember seeing the car when it was all black, before the yellow paint.

Cool NSX-R article in another issue

Remember when these were the fastest cars around?

And the Silver Bullet being the fastest/quickest Honda back then?

The 96 Civic brochure I have. Here's a few quick pics from inside it.

Here's a few pics from the all new 97+ Prelude brochure back then. They had a white Type S w/red interior on display at the time.

Here are some of the pricelists from the brochures.

Here's the first few pages from a JDM Auto Fashion mag in Jan 96.

The first two videos that were sold showing the Battle Of The Imports

That's about all that I feel like putting up. Tons & tons of more stuff laying around

That Yellow Accord from DC sports was and is one of my favorites. I need to build a replica of that car one day. I remember one part of the article read " IF you walk in to DC sports with a wheel barrel full of money they will do it for you"
Man I have all of those mags too.
And that accord was my background on my old pentium 266
lawd how the time flies
...I remember when Sport Compact didnt do full color and cars looked more like they belonged in Lowrider magazine instead.

cuz of that one black EK from bolt-on performance which was spooned out (back then, people never imagined spending big bucks on spoon products
