buying 02 si hatchie? help.
Well guys im pretty sure its time for me to sell my 95 EG hatchie for a EP 2002 civic si hatch...
currently im looking at a 40k mile si for $12900 give or take a few hundred. runs perfect, no dents/scratches, and has an alarm system. could anyone tell me if this sounds reasonable? also is there anything i should know as to negative aspects of the 02 si. is it quick at all? ive seen it bashed on quite a bit.

The EP3 is a wonderful car. It has probably been bashed on for having the k20a3 motor, but I believe it's a wonderful motor. If you're looking for a performance car, this motor would probably disappoint.
its a reasonable deal,..im trying to get about the same for mine with mods so i would get it. i really just want another car afterall i have become bored with mine after 3 yrs. the motor isnt THAT bad. it just isnt a 10k rpm motor. the steering rack creak is the only problem with ep3's, happens when u lowere them too much and the tie rods bow
I paid $13999 for mine with 18k miles. That was about 1 month ago.
Performance wise.....I used to drive a 03 GTI 1.8t running 20lbs of boost, and a 93 SI with a JRSC running the stock 6lbs. Both of those were obviously faster.... I am however having fun driving the Ep3. I will eventually either bolt on another Jackson unit or swap in a CRV motor.

its a fun car. if you want fast, get a type-s.
the Si is a nice balance between fun and economy/efficiency. best part of all, it takes regular unleaded, not premium!!!!
it doesn't take much to improve the car. HFP and Mugen suspensions are nice. HFP is ~600 new, mugen is 1100 new. tokico blues shocks and eibach springs are another nice combo for <$1000. add a 05+ type-s rear sway and you're good to go!
engine-wise, go jackson supercharger.
yes, the EP has been bashed from day one for being soft. i think honda gave us a good platform to work off of. most of us replace the parts that the magazines complain about, so what's the difference? even if they were better parts, they would still get replaced by aftermarket stuff!
i love my ep. i have an 03 that i bought in dec of 03, and it has 68500mi on it.

And for those people who don't want a rough-riding skidpad beast that's prone to wheelspin at the slightest twitch of the foot, they can leave it stock and have a fun, quick, smooth-riding daily commuter.
If we got the CTR, people would still modify it. But then, we wouldn't have nearly as many people experimenting with all kinds of engine & head swaps, either. Modified EPs are getting to be like any other Honda hatch of the last fifteen years -- you never really know what they've got under the hood.
It's a good car, no doubt. I just wish Honda had promoted it more strongly. I've seen more FG-chassis ads in the past six months than I've seen of the EP during its four-year run.

I got an '05si... and look forward to my 75 mile round trip drive for work everyday. It is a bit more refined than some may like... but it shines where others dont. Youre gonna have a payment no matter what you buy... so why not get something you wont ever wanna get rid of? It doesnt top the list of most wanted imports either... so coming out to your car and seeing its been stolen is less likely than some others... im a Honda freak tho... so my opinion is highly biased.
