When I am in gear and accelerate or decelerate, there is a hard knocking that occurs. You can hear it more I down shift. When I press in the clutch it goes away. The clutch hold good still too. Anyone have this problem? I was thinking maybe it is the throw out or release bearing.

bad motor mounts?

 

ok.. u find the cause yet? noise stops anytime it's not in gear or only when the clutch pedal is pressed? the engine tranny mounts... i have had them go bad a lot in other vehicles besides my r(thats impressive)..

 

Pop the hood.. Pull the hand brake... have someone watch the motor while you load and unload the drivetrain ( That is put it in gear and let the clutch out partially, so's not to stall the motor but to partially engage it... This will make the motor rock and a worn or loose part will show its self...)


Sounds like a mount to me, or the exhaust is damaged and pushed up and is hitting the body... Good luck
