Trying to understand my engine better. D16Y8 how does the oil system flow. Obviously from oil pan, pickup tube, pump and then where. Does it run through the girdle for mains and rods bearing and then to the head or does it split and do the head and bottom at the same. Also does the stock oil pressure gauge sit between the pump and mains or after? I've got really good oil pressure (according to the autometer gauge in the stock sending location) after havng the engine rebuilt but no VTEC. The engine started with less than 30K miles on it before the rebuild. It also makes a slight dieseling kinda noise at idle I'm wondering if the place that rebuilt it got the clearances too tight maybe the head isn't getting enough oil flow.

nobody on this. How about just the basics, is the oil pressure sending unit the pressure between the pump and main bearings?
