Default no vtec after manifold install

i installed a preofessional products intake manifold, hci did an install on a itr a few months back and they loved it, so i got one, i also put a 65mm Tb on in, anyhow, i have a few vacuum leaks, but other than that, its not bad, other than the fact that i lost vtec, its on a b16, and vtec is non existant. I dont know what the hell is going on, its like i have a ls with out the torque, i took it to a friends house who put the swap in and he is trying to figure it out, i dont know what it could be, if you know what it could be, lemme know yo, help a brotha out

did they put all the normal hoses and sensors back, namely the intake air temp sensor.

yeah, i think the map sensor is the only one not hooked up, the temp sensor on the front side of the intake is installed though, but when i say we have vacuum leaks, i mean.... some hoses are hooked up to... nothing. will those sensors prevent vtec from engaging?? we are working on it this evening so hopefully we will get those hooked up right tonight

First off, you will need to have the MAP sensor plugged in. Are there any other sensors not plugged in? Is the VTEC pressure switch and solenoid plugged in? Why didn't you reinstall everything back to how it should be? (vacuum hoses).

well, my dumb *** had some "friends" help, and while they were taking the old manifold apart, and disconnecting the hoses, i was putting the new tb on the new manifold. Of course it started to rain so we were gonna do it the next day, but seemed like non of them wanted to come out and help, and since i let them uinstall the manifold, i didnt know how the hoses went on. I have the car at another friends house, the guy that actually put the motor in for me, so he should know how they plug up, but he doesnt know why vtec isnt working. I checked the vtec seleniod, and i checked all the injectors make sure they are hooked up. We are working on it still, but we figured while it was down we would through my cams in it and just reinstall it while we trial and error on the hoses. But with the hoses and that sensor off, will that cause vtec not to work b/c i always thought vtec worked off oil pressure??

they look the same, i mean physically, the company said that it would fit b16, b17 and type r's. How can you tell if it is a non vtec intake manifold? The company doesnt make a manifold for non vtec motors

http://www.tornactive.com/pd_p...s.cfm

go to this site, the is the exact one, but not polished mine is satin. Like i said the company doesnt make an ls intake, so it cant be a non vtec intake.

that's impossible in this case

correct

With the AEBS you will have extra vacuum ports that need to be capped off. Yo umust reconnect the sensors. If you have a leak you should have an irratic idle to go along with it.

oh yeah its got a real messed up idle, **** sounds like a small block chevy camming. I have all the nipples on the back blocked off. should these sensors cause vtec to screw up?? I mean we have to relocate the sensor on the firewall and put it on the throttle body which shouldnt be hard, but should this fix my problem?

I wouldn't worry about VTEC until you get the mani installed properly first. Find the leaks first.

We just had a similar problem with a h22 hatch. The vtec quit working when the map sensor crapped out on us.
Do like everyone said and fix the original problems first, then go back through and make sure all your sensors are hooked up.
