got a question i have a 94 del sol si with a b18c swap that has been in there for about 3 months now... its been doing this the entire time ive had it but id like to fix this little problem... sometimes when i go to start it it will just click and then ill turn the key again and it will click again and then ill turn it again and it will fire right up... what could this be? think i have a weak starter or mayb some wiring or ignitiion i have no idea

If you put the key in, turn it on, hear the fuel pump prime, pump stops & check engine light goes off, then you turn it to ignition and it clicks... it's probably the starter solenoid. They typically click when they're failing.

You can either rebuild the solenoid (involves pulling the starter, opening it up, then replacing solenoid components) or buy a new/used/rebuilt starter. The solenoid is integrated into Honda starters, it can't be replaced without pulling & opening up the starter.

 

Normally, the clicking means weak battery (not enough power for the starter to turn the motor over), but since you can try it a few times and then it works, it's your starter

 

ok great... thanks i went to advance to get my battery check its one of the yellow optimas and its like new... so im assuming it the starter... ima just buy a new one got any aftermarket ones or ones with like cromes cases or anything?

 

you can just revamp the starter (rebuild). remove starter, open it up, there's the solenoid in the middle and two contacts. after a while the contacts usually wear down and have poor contact - replace these contacts and then lightly sand down the bottom ring of the solenoid you'll have a new workin starter for about $35 bucks rather than $200+ for a remanufactured/new starter.

 

You could also get lucky and one of your grounds might not be tight all the way. But sounds like the starter...
