Default How far should I push it ? (Dyno, boost related, B series) now has dyno

So, I will be hitting the dyno very soon (Friday most likely) and Im just curious as to what I should aim for.

The setup:

81.5mm b16
9:1 Endyn Pistons
Eagle rods
ARP head studs
Stock sleeves
STR blockguard (does nothing)
GSR cams
780cc injectors
Precision SC34 .63 hot/.57 cold T3/T4 turbo
Precision AS1025 31.50"L x 8.00"H x 3.50"D 600-Hp Intercooler
3" DP
ITR intake manifold

Zdyne for t00ning

Currently Im running 550 injectors and Im at 1 bar. It made 299whp with some serious boost leaks and a best of 325whp @ 15psi untuned.

Id like to try tune for 18-19 psi on pump. Would 19 be risking it? The tune would have to be dead on. What kind AFR should i shoot for?

Any insight, help, flames, etc ?

PICS of setup and for views:

400-420 on pump @ around 11.5-11.8:1 would be your safest bet.

Your set up is pretty good but you'll be limited by your stock sleeves. I seen some set up push 20psi with no problems but it's just a chance your going to have to take. If your tuner know what he is doing you should be fine on 19psi. Good luck

[flame]push it until the tracer (coil) inside the msd cap melts.. and when your **** blows up come on here and blame your tuner. [/flame]

seriously.. i MELTED two of those caps in a matter of a couple months back in the day. I had good luck with an OEM cap and adding a post to it. I'm sure there are threads about this.

lovin' the old school ?hasport? mounts and the overall simplicity of the setup.

Thanks fellas.

Another thing, what should my plugs be gapped for 19 psi?

Right now they are at .025.

That valve cover should be worth an extra 15hp

.025 is pretty small gap....IMO you should start around .030-.028 and then decrease if you have to.

I'd just leave it at .025 Regapping hot plugs on the dyno just wastes time.

limited by stock sleeves? where the hell have you been?

like mtber said, it'll be good in the low 400range on pump. after that point i would think the turbo/pump gas would be what would limit the power you could make.

goodluck

well, weaaaaaaaaaaaaaak sauce.

Heres the graph at 1 bar from today:

I picked up the low end I was missing from the last dyno with the boost leaks, but now, top end, its breaking up and not making power.

Im at 269 at 6400rpm, and then it drops to 260 @ 6600, then back up to 272 @ 6800.

WTF is this? Ignition break up? I think my head is lifting a tad because theres quite a bit of coolant on the left side between the block and head.

Also, my alternator is pretty weak. I bought one two days ago and Im waiting on it, and my tuner said that could cause the breakup.

WTF, even at 15 psi, I should be making moreeeeeee.

We stopped there because it kept breaking up

EDIT: This was a 3rd gear pull

Anywayssssss, whats with the high rpm break up and loss of power.

Vtec was set at 5300 and gained me 40 wheel at the crossover from 5100 where it was engaged

take out the cap and external coil. Replace all of it with oem stuff. I wouldn't be suprised if that potentially fixes your problem. Try maybe just finding somebody with a stock dizzy you can borrow real quick off of their car just to test it.

if it were me, go buy some new plugs and swap em out then take it on the street and see if its still breaking up. always start with the cheapest and easiest solution
