Last season, i had a few occasions where my car wouldn't start but would start up if i turned the key completely off and cranking it again.. Today, i finally changed the main relay out cause people were telling me that was cause to my problems. But is there a way to test my old one so i can be sure that was the cause to my problem?
It's kinda hard to test because it doesn't happen all the time. I had the same problem with my 93 si hb, i noticed you wouldn't hear any clicks or the fuel pump priming the injectors when you turn the key. You may be able to take it apart and look for cracks in the solder i never bothererd. After i replaced mine the problem went away that's all i cared about.
Look at the soldering points on the inside of the relay. Even the most tiny cracks can cause failure.
If you happen to see a cracked soldering point, re-solder ot and keep that relay as a spare. You can actually repair them! I would keep ut as a back-up only, because if it cracked in one place, it will crack sooner in others too.

tell them you work for advance auto parts or something next time, then they'll give it to you for $37. Also napa makes on that's a little cheaper, works the same.

Thanks for the advice....so i take it that this is a very common problem with hondas........but can you take those things apart to resolder the cracked points? It looks like the unit is sealed.......
