I was driving my R yesterday when the stupid **** pulled me over. Here's the story, I was driving around at midnight on a big public street near street racing hotspots. I was driving regularly behind my friends s2k which is also yellow. Well all of the sudden I see lights flashing in my rear view mirror. But I never got pulled over before and this is my offense. So i pulled over the cop walked over to my car and said " Wheres your license and you better have f***ing insurance. He kept on swearing at me. He said I was speeding then he claimed i was drag racing today and last week and the weeks before saying he saw me there at the hotspots. (which is a lie) So i said " I wasn't drag racing" then the cop said "cut the bull crap I'm sick of you riceburners coming down here to drag race." So the cocky cop with a attitude walks to his car then 10 mins later he give me a ticket that said I ran a solid red. This is the bs ticket part, I am 100% postive it was green it wasnt even a yellow. For me I was totally affended by what he said to me, all the swearing was not neccesary, when I didnt do anything wrong. He gives me the ticket he said send it in and you get back your license. I was in complete shock when I saw it was a running a solid red ticket. My friend in passenger side told me not to say anything to him, he said if I do he pull me out and drag me to the station. What I'm asking is what should I do? when I really didnt do anyhing wrong. Have any of you experience this. If I did run a red i wouldn't be typing this and would accept the ticket. This is a total shocker for me and my 1st offence which again i didnt commit. So what should I do, please help fellow R owners. thanks

Anyhow, i would go the legal route on this one and fight it in court. If you say you are innocent then fight it. Word to the wise: if you have a bright *** PY ITR don't hang around the local "hot spot" street racing area. Cops just love to pull us over!

file an IA complaint against him...there is no reason for the way he approached you, even if you did what he said.

Did you get his name/badge #? it may show it on the citation...talk to someone at the station, do not expect to get this taken care of over the phone.

 

Fight it in court - AND make sure your friend comes with you as a witness to what happened.

Normally, when you're by yourself, it's your word against the cop's, and you lose. If you have a witness, it helps A LOT.

 

if you have money i'd suggest you hire a lawyer and sue his *** till he's broke.
it happended to me b4. cop pull me over and just start swearing at me with all these fu** words, and give me a CARELESS drive............ what the ****, he asked me what gear i was in and i told him second, and he told me i'm giving you a careless drive ticket becasue your car second gear can go 140km and you most have been driving that fast<--biggest BS i've hear whos itr second gear can go that far . i tried to tell him it is in possible and he told me if i dont shut the fu** up he'll just give a dangerous drive ticket and send me to jail. so i said sorry to him, and start agree whatever he said( like es sir i was doing 140 yes sir i was racing ....blah blah) after he's gone i went straight to see lawyer and tell him what happended, so i'm still fight for my ticket and i'll if i can sue that cop. coz i was only doing 80~90 km/h but when he taking down the note he made me to say whatever he want me to say, isnt that threat??

some sop are just out of thier mind. so i've decide to take this one cop down.
if you cant be fairly out there then i guess you shouldnt be a cop

 

The cop was like screaming at me I thought if i argue with him over the ticket a Rodney King 2 might occur, you know what im trying to get at. I seriously felt threaten last night.

 

Get a good lawyer! what he did to you is absurd and im sure your not the first and won't be the last........do something about it so he doesn't pull dis chit on anyone else.

There are certain cases that cops gives you racing tickets even if you drive normally on the streets with a Teg, ITR, modded Civic, etc... That's why I have a tape recorder in my car ALL THE TIME. Usually, I am prepared for these cases. If a cop says I ran a redlight, raced, etc... I will question him in telling me the truth, and record his lack of reason to approach me aggressively. I will ask questions like "I know you are fvcking with me, etc... and most of the time, the cop will hit me back with sh*t like "I can do whatever I want, I feel like it, what are you going to do, etc..." Happens mosts of the time.

I had a case when the cop wanted to give me a BS ticket about for my AEM CAI last year. The filter is nowhere to be seen (no longer categorise as an open-style intake), but he knew it was aftermarket and was about to give me a $280 ticket even when I said ,y intake is within the law because it is enclosed. I opened my door (my tape recorder was attached there) and the cop saw it rolling with the red light shining in his face, so he freaked out a bit and said he is going to give me a warning instead...LOL. I swear that he was ready with the ticket book before he saw the tape recorder.

So go to Futureshop or something and grab yourself a tape recorder.

Dude, do exactly what Jason said. File a complaint ASAP!! There is no reason for him to talk to you like that. The accusations were unjust and uncalled for. That is BULLSHIT!! I'm impressed how you kept calm. I woulda been really, really pissed!! I'm in the process of becoming a COP. There is no excuse for that bevior. File a COMPLAINT!!!!!!!!!

cops record everything... unless he was smart enough not to record that night. first of file a complaint in person and i dunno if you can get the tape from that night, but if you fight the case then you can request pretty much everything, as long as the court allows it. (which they probably will)

Yes file a complaint with the person highest up in the police department. I did this once when I cop harrassed me and I had him reassigned.

 

Thanks tony the tiger, i'll just go and get one tape recorder, i've always have a camera in my car, just in case if accident happend i can take pics and move the car withour blocking the traffic. didnt know a tape recorder would help.

 

You were smart not to talk back, they want you to so they have a reason to fine you more. Definitely get a lawyer, file the complaint also. I've been sworn at so many times by cops, unfortunitly I was racing but still they never approach middle aged people driving their BMW's too fast like that, why because those people might have a lawyer. Don't forget though there still are cool cops out there, find one and make friends, it would be a big help right now!

 

STAY AWAY FROM POLICE AT ALL COST! There are great cops and there are jerks. Never say anything to even direct the conversation to a point were the officer and make any conclusions of what you were doing...meaning, when he accused you of racing instead of saying "i wasn't racing" say I was head home from picking up my friend. the word "racing" should never enter the conversation from you mouth. That goes for any thing. always be polite. If you end up in court what you say stands for alot....the is no go situation like this there all bad ...I could give you so much advice but the most important thing is have a good attitude and be honest, pray that the officer is understanding. ....good luck in the future

 

Go to court and when he says "yeah, I saw him here and I saw that car there", so OBJECTION: Narrative - and it'll get thrown out
