would you be upset???
So, i'm getting the parts together for my timing belt/water pump change for this weekend, right. I have a 1990 CRX SI....which SHOULD mean that I have a what size engine? A D16A6 or so, right (someone please correct me if I'm wrong!) Anyways, I'm looking at my engine, and:
I'm not necesarily upset, but the car came with a new timing belt and water pump, I'm not sure if they'll fit now? I assume the previous owner purchased them under the impression that it was a 1.6 engine. I'll ask the autozone and advance guys if the parts will fit, but if anyone here happens to know, I'd appreciate it!
Info on the car\engine that I know: car has 202k miles, but the engine supposedly only has 27-33k...He put all new struts, 3 new tires (Wal-Mart did'nt have the 4th) new battery/timing belt/water pump, neither of which are installed...and I believe that to be it? I paid 430 bucks for the car, not running, and traded a 1 gig laptop that I got in on trade for a new computer at my computer shop for it, plus rented a tow dolly from U-Haul and drove a total of 840 miles to pick it up. I have invested maybe another 300 bucks, interior is almost complete and new, minus my $200 seats that I'm waiting to pick up, and the body is fairly straight and rust free minus the passenger door and front fender. AND, it purrs like a kitten except for a hole in the exhaust somewhere under the cabin.. It came with a new set of bumpers already painted same as car. I think I got a good deal regardless engine size...whatdyall think?
Oh, and I dont(well, did'nt) plan on doing an engine swap any time soon...but I'll probly get pretty good gas mileage now, eh?

thats a sohc vtec motor.dont quote ome on this but im sure its 120 hp to the crank.its basically single cam vtec.and yes your correct the stock engine code would have been d16a6.thats a better motor then what u would of had stock.
oh.....really???? So I DO have VTEC then! sweet, then, in that case, I'm happy!
Is there anyway to confirm this? Any kind of wiring that I would notice? THanks!

That's not a sohc vtec motor. Cuz if it is, would would just say D15B, not D15B2. What you have is a 88-91 DX motor, so if I were you, I would be upset. The D15B2 only has 92hp. The motor that should be in your car is the D16A6 which has 108hp.
as mentioned above, the d15b2 is a crx dx motor.. however do you have all the mpfi stuff?
he may have done what i did with my crx si, which was to use basically a d15b2 bottom end and use a6 head and all the mpfi parts. i wouldn't really be pissed considering it could still be a healthy motor and give you lots of years of reliability to come and still have basically the same performance as a stock d16a6.
can't beat the price you paid for the car also..

Just called an auto store, and they say that the water pump and timging belt are both the same for the 1.5 and the 1.6. Can I get a confirmation from a fellow Honda man, as I dont entirely trust the auto store as they've been wrong several times before. There like mapquest, sometimes they get you there, and sometimes, you get screwed.
