Ok, ive seen so many of these threads, and have searched, and found nothing. this is not an isoloated problem; but it ALWAYS happens right around noon - 2 pm, on a hot sunny day. its happened several times, but this is the first time its not been a saturday lol. enough BS, heres the deal:
i know some postwhore is gonna say, without reading my post: "check/change main relay" i CHANGED IT LAST WEEK. because the same thing happened last saturday; i get off work at noon, its 80 and sunny outside, and my car wont start. after like a half hour of messin around, it fires right up like a champ. so i get sick of this **** and drive to the acura dealership, and all week its been running fine.
and now today, about 15 minutes ago (12:10 central time) i go outside and its 85 and sunny out. open my door and due to black interior, my car is a goddamn sauna, atleast 115 degrees. i turn the key, listen for the fuelpump; it runs its normal 2-3 second course, so i crank it. it fires right up, but before the engine can come back down to 1000 rpms, it dies.
i try again, the engine sputters and tries to start, with the tach jumping to about 500 but never actually starting. i am irate as i am now posting this. since its starting and sputtering, and then trying to start, its obviously getting fuel and spark, although it seems as if its not getting enough fuel.
i just changed the fuel filter a couple months ago, and i just recently ran fuel injection cleaner. because i think im running a tad lean, since im getting 27-30 mpg all city driving; and not really driving like a grandma. in the last year ive replaced the plugs, wires, cap and rotor. this is the one problem ive had in the 2.5 years ive owned this car. i am stumped, and i tried searching and found nothing but people with bad starters, main relays and dist. coils. if anybody has any good ideas after reading whats happening and what ive replaced, go for it, im obviously willing to take advice because this pisses me off. oh yeah, a friend of mine advanced the ignition timing a little, but that was well over a year ago. he marked the stock position on the top dizzy "leg", so im going to try putting it back to stock, although im 99.9% sure it wont work, its just an act of desperation

so it doesnt work once in a while, when the car has been sitting in the hot sun for a few hours? i dont know much about ignition components. also the car started about a half hour later; it started and sputtered just like earlier, but after two more tries, it started and stayed running just fine. would a bad ignitor do this? im just confused by this whole situation

thats the ironic thing. it only happens on hot, sunny days, but i changed my relay 9 days ago
a guy i know has a DA dizzy for sale, i should just scoop that; i just hope its obd1.

I'm having this EXACT same problem, weird! I brought it to a garage and they said it was the igniter, I got a whole new Distributor, cap and rotor from distributor king on here. put that on, started like a champ, next morning I drove it to work, today I try to leave from work , same problem. It cranks over like a champ, but like wasn't getting fuel, I pumped the gas and I was smelling anything, so I thought maybe it was the pump/relay. I took the rear seats off, unpluged the pump, then was thinking, then plugged it back in, tried to crank it (this was later, started to get cooler) and it started in like half a crank. Wtf, drove it around, waited two hours, and took another ride. works fine. I don't get it. and I'm getting tired of getting stuck places like work.

somebody else who knows what im going through. last fall when this happened, i took the banjo bolt off the top of the fuel filter... and it was bone ****** dry. normally, fuel comes flowing out because of the pressure in the line, but that time there was nothing. i didnt do it today because i was so aggravated. it just baffles me that i cleaned the injectors, replaced the filter, and i can hear the fuel pump running, but still no gas. im not going to take my car to the shop so i can spend hundreds on something that turns out to not be the problem.
its a bunch of BS

it was a new, $65 from the stealership, oem main fuel relay. and the dizzy, i found out is obd0
it just bugs the **** out of me that all the things ive replaced in the last year hasnt stopped this, including the infamous relay. and 93_teg_ct is having the same problem with a brand new dizzy, cap and rotor. the ingitor would be included with a new dizzy right? the next time it happens, which will be soon with the weather weve been having, ill take off the banjo bolt again to see if theres any fuel pressure. if not, then what? a fuel pump wouldnt just intermittently stop working would it? could a bad pressure regulator be the culprit?

I was talking to a chick at my work, she has an integra and she told me she was having the same problem... the mechanic told her it was vapor locking. I didn't know what that was, she said that her gas cap was shot and someting to do with pressure and the pump turning off... Iunno long story short, I think i'm goingto get a new gas cap, but i've never heard of this.
internal pump problem maybe...never seen it, but if the pump motor is running, but something is wrong internally, it could possible not build any pressure.
just trying to think outside of the box
just trying to think outside of the box

that would explain why there was no fuel in the filter when it didnt start a few months ago
i think im gonna replace that; hopefully it solves the problem.

ive never heard of that before... but guess what, it just happened again today afterwork
i had no tools, so the only thing i could do is take off the gas cap; it was pressurized, and made the whooshing air noise when i took it off. when i was 16 i even drove my accord for a few days without a cap; and it ran perfect. im starting to think that its wiring problems, im going to try to diagnose something tonight, and i just hope i luckily find the problem
