Bought a Deck From Japan. Radio Station #s go from 70 - 83 and I cant pick up stations.
I got a deck in my car and the dial is below our stations here and the highest it goes is like .2 away from the lowest one on a normal dial. Anyone know if there is a way to get around this or anything? My deck is an older double din Alpine deck. It has Mini Disc LOL. If there is nothing I can do then thats cool, just thought I would ask.

Ive heard of conversion things, but dont know of anyone who has them or knows where to get them. Ive only had the deck in my car for a day so its not like Ive had a lot of time to look around for anything that would work.

I dont know anything about stereos. Never really got into them or saw the real point to having a huge system. Im not trying to point out I know anything about them thats why I posted. Im just saying what Ive heard. If it doesnt exist to convert it then thats fine. Just thought I would ask and check.

i used to repair decks for pioneer's warranty division, anyway unless you can find a different tuner pack that is a direct replacemant for the one in it but for u.s. stations i dont think there is anything else that could be done.

For the same reason people put in nice home theatres at home. To get good sound so you enjoy your music to its full potential.
I would search around... I've read of a few people on here using some sort of signal converter bought at radio shack to get stations.
You could always sign up for sattelite radio.

they do make a signal converter but it only frees up most of the stations. I dont think they go much higher then 105.0. depends on your area if there are stations you like above that.
why are people such spoon feeders today - google up "japanese to american fm converter"

Another JDM attempt gone wrong. Horribly wrong. Not as bad as the guy that did the RHD coversion and then couldn't register the car.</TD></TR></TABLE>
It wasnt an attempt to go JDM it was a double din deck for $180 used instead of the ones for $500+ new. It was the only double din one I found used anywhere. Also I dont have to go JDM Im already there.

yeah i put in a head unit like this from japan as well but it was a sony and the guuy had the same problem as you are... they sell some converter and a FM modulator tot convert it... Any HIGH ENd strereo shop will sell you the conversion kit... hahaha thats funny though..
I had the same issue about a year ago. I bought a used JDM /////ALPINE cd player from a guy on eBay and I, too, wasn't able listen to the radio. Reason is...the frequencies are different between Japan radios and US radios (US has higher frequencies). I looked all over for the converter (frequency booster)....but for the price they were asking for, it wasn't worth it. HELL, I only paid $45 for the radio. Also, it only played CD's whenever it wanted to. PIECE of CRAP!!!
