take this for what it is..

as far as alarm installs i know ****. so what i did was i took my g5 intelliguard 850 to al&eds and i removed my lower dash, and my upper dash and my cluster aswell. this is to speed things up for the installer. as far as the paperwork you do not need to leave your full name or your full address, a phone number and your cash is all they really need. you dont want someone knowing where the car is located.

i asked the installer to do all the basics and all the features of the alarm. i also asked him not to cut any of the alarm wires and not to cover the wires in electrical tape. just to connect it to the correct wires on the car and then to put tape in those wires and let the alarm system hang on the floor board. everything was tested before leaving and everything worked as it should. i also stood there watching the install. yea i dont trust nobody.

and i went home and spent the next two days moving the entire alarm system to a place where no installer would without paying extra money. basically inorder to reach my brain the dash has to be removed. since now all the programs and features are in the brain memory you can remove any of the wires without worry of it deleting any of the programs.

i also have all my wiring wrapped in metal. my negative and positive wires are in the engine bay, and my two fuses are in the engine bay aswell.

so basically what i saying is go to any place tell them exactly what you want to do then go home copy the wires that go to each other then move the alarm system to your preferred location.

this is your best bet since you are the only one who will know where everything is. regardless of who does it i would not trust anyone but myself. and you will find after that alarm installs really are not that hard.

Very good point! I recently got a new job in long beach and have to park my car on the street in a pretty crappy neighborhood. My car is a 98 prelude with no alarm currently. One day after work I noticed my door slightly open with a screwdriver sticking out of my ignition!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My security was pretty basic and it saved my car! I basically pull out my coil wire, pull the fuel pump fuse and replace it with a blown one, pull factory ecu and replace it with a gutted one. One other trick I won't divulge but it mangaed to work! The whole experience is making me take a second look at my security layers. One element I don't have is a alarm. I would like to find a installer who is not going to cut corners, I want the brain somewhere unattainable to any thief with less than 3 hours on their hands. My plans thus far are a viper 5k w/electonic hood lock layered with mechanical anti theft measures.... I have no idea about electronics whatsoever, so for me wiring anything is like reading chinese. ..What is the labor $$ involved with putting the brain behind the dash? I realize an alarm is only as good as where the brain is installed, my objective to make that a real pita task for any scum looking to boost my car.
