Default Someone pls help.

Anybody have any idea as to how I can remove my itr spoiler without harming the clearcoat/paint. I loosened the 4 bolts and this thing just wont budge. I dont like this double sided tape acura used. Someone told me the only way to get it off is to heat it but i dont wanna try that. Anbody got any tips how to take it off? All help is GREATLY appreciated.

if you have the 4 bolts removed, now just get someone to help and carefully pull it up from both sides. there is double sided sticky tape on each end. it will take some pulling, but will come off. then your goal is to remove the old sticky tape and soft foam residue

and a side note... you may regret taking off your spoiler, i do

DO NOT PULL ON THAT SPOILER! not unless you want to risk permamently denting the hatch cause by that action.

what you do is go to your favorite grocery store, pick up a packet of WAXED dental floss and reserve some time, atleast an hour, and patiently use the floss to break the bond between the spoiler and the hatch by "cutting" thru the adhesive. works wonders, just be patient about it so you dont scratch the paint. detail shops use the same method to remove emblems good luck

PS-yes, ive done this on my own R, and the process only made me appreciate the quality and detail that is put into OEM equipment. are you going wingless?

just make sure you think about it carefully. the itr wing is one of the most characteristic parts that give the car personality. i had a 95 LS with no wing before my R and it was smooth without it.

but, the ITR just feels like its missing a front tooth or something without the wing only reason why i removed mine was to make room for the mugen one, but still, i have the stock one hidden away because i cannot make myself sell it.

I understand where you are coming from but the ITR wing is a little too aggressive for my taste. I like subtle spoilers like I think the LS has a nice and neat spoiler, but for now I just want the back smooth. do u have pics of your mugen wing?

Don't worry about rust. The holes drain into the gutters outside of the hatch seals.

Use fishing line or dental floss then pry evenly and firmly and it will come off. Use an adhesive remover to get the rest of the sticky tape off and be sure to wash the area and apply some wax since the adhesive remover wull remove any wax layers protecting the paint in those spots.

FYI your post title is vague if not lame. Try to use a post title that at least describes what you'd like help with in the future. And also FYI this topic has been covered several times before. Try using the Search function to answer questions such as these before posting up.

Best of luck. I had mine off for about a year but put it back on and it has stayed ever since.

Just curious as to why you don't want to use heat?

You can use a hairdryer indoors (garage) and it will come off without the excessive heat that a heat gun may produce which can harm the clearcoat.

I never removed an ITR spoiler before, but I've removed lot's of emblems over the years and a hairdryer has always worked good for me.

Get a good hairdryer, like a pro hairdresser one, I steal my wifes.

And a 3M window tint spatula.

Work on a clean car and gently apply the spatula to the heated area, work it in slowly.

Work indoors if possible.

The more patience you have the better the results.

I use 3M Imperial hand glaze to clean the area afterwards, it will get rid of light sun stencile if it's not excessive, then I'll apply a coat or two of Meguiars Tech wax to match the rest of the car

Yeah, on a Teg you would. On some cars you'd just de-badge.
