Default Just Bought An Accord - Ahhh Problems

Whatsup guys, I recently bought an Accord for my little bro.

It is a 95 Accord LX, non vtec engine. The people that I bought it from had the car sitting for TWO years (yes years). I bought the car, and drove it home. Only problem with the car (when I bought it and I knew about) was it was throwing a CEL. Next day I changed the oil, filter, spark plugs and added fuel injector cleaner in gas tank. Car started throwing out white smoke, it went away after it warmed up. Also when I changed the plugs, I noticed oil on them. The car drives fine (even with CEL on), idle is fine, drives fine. Idle only goes down when you turn the steering wheel (in park). I'm planning on changing the tranny fluid soon also.

First off:

How do I check the CEL? Same as a 92-95 Civic (Look for grey plug that is dangling /paper clip)?

Secondly, the symptoms that I described . . . what sounds like the problem . . ?

Thanks in Advance

The white smoke sounds like the injector cleaner. That's pretty normal. I'm no help though with the CEL. I have a 6th gen and it's the same paper clip trick.

the oil in the spark plugs means your tube seals are shot.

there are 2 sets of seals, one on the valve cover, those are easily changed, and another set that you have to take out the rocker assembly to get to.

about the idle when you turn the wheel, all cars that ive owned and ever riden in do that. I think its just do to the power steering doing its work.

There will be a BLUE 2 pin connector at the top of the passenger side kick panel, jumper that connector and turn on the key; then count the CEL flashes

I bought my car the same way. White smoke is no problem. Everythingelse guys already covered. Your CEL is an 02 sensor. Bet you anything. Flash code 43.
I feel like me and you bought the same car, except mine is a manual.
Good luck.

o2 sensors have heaters in them to help the car get into closed loop faster. Its pretty much say, "replace the first o2 sensor"

The O2 sensor is on the exhaust pipe. Not sure where on your model. Follow the exhaust until you find it. There may be two of them (the heated sensor should have three wires). Read the 5th gen FAQ (top of Accord page). It has a lot of useful information. If you have oil on the sparkplug tubes, read the link below. Good luck

or this one.

PS: If you want to work on the car yourself, you should get a repair manual for it.
