Default 00' ITR, great condition, 15k miles for only $40,000. Would you buy it?

What if I tell you that a brand new WRX cost $50,000 USD? Same goes for RX-8. 350Z goes for $68,000USD.

It's real, and it's at a place call China....because the charges for importing a car is 100% of car's market value.

From those of you that know me personally, I'm doing fine in China and still pimping and ricing like how I rock it at the sTatEs y0!

Now it's a tough decision for me to make, I am sick of driving a 2.3 CG5 Accord automatic. I need to rePreSEnt in China!!

Here are the choices:

BMW 320i --- Made in China, 6-spd, 150hp I6, imported engine/tranny/suspension. $37,000
WRX - Imported, $50,000
RX8 - Imported, $50,000
Evo9 - wait till October for import, $75,000

ITR - $38,000...15,000 miles, all-most brand spanking new, strong engine and stiff suspension. Fully stock except steering wheel. Still wrapping the stock RE010. And this is the first and only USDM ITR registered by China DMV to run legally on the street! #00-266

--- What would you pick?

The seller Tony is also an infrequent H-T member, owner of the notorious #97-003. BBasso knows him too...

The pics are poor and the car is filthy after 2 weeks of non-stop raining. Constructions all over the place in China didn't help neither...

This would be my 3rd ITR if I decided to buy...PY, CW then FBP Going around the color scheme...just need a silver Rx and Red 96 to complete.

Where you from ?
Get a RHD car from Hong Kong and drive it up. Japan imported cars in H.K. are much cheaper.

I'm from Guangzhou.

You can't do that anymore...you would have to chop the car into several pieces and ship it up to reassemble it and get police plates.

If you meant HK<->China plates, that plate alone cost $40,000 USD.

Isn't China supposed to have really iffy roads in some spots ?

I read an article that mentioned how bad roads were in some parts of China, that factor alone would make me steer clear of an R.

Hell Australia probably has worse roads than China, and I rattle my fillings every day, I havent found a single road here without some kind of pot hole or ripple.

thenagain mugen lowdowns aint helpin either

China is now the second country next to US with the most roads paved. Newly paved roads tent to be better.

If you live in metro cities, the roads and all inter-state highways are mostly 3-4 lanes with silky smooth German engineered pavements. Really nice for the R to drive on, hell lot better than the old pavements of New York City especially in Manhattan. Just need to watch for the occasional "cyclists" and fence-jumping pedistrians.

Now if you travel outside the city...there is no road. LOL! There are places that you would simply be better off by walking.

I miss that "tiGHT-ARR is 4 dA twistiES y0!" saying...so how about these roads in China? First one is near where I live...

6 yrs old car vs brand new cars with warranty for just 10k more...tough tough...but I drove all of the said cars and still thinks the R outperforms in stockform. The driving dynamic I meant.../sigh

I would store the ITR here for eternal use. Actually, I am going to Zhuhai International Raceway for a track day the coming week, driving a RHD EK with B16A, then at the end of June, I will attempt to the first open track day on the Shanghai F1 Raceway....but most likely driving my automatic Accord

This car will serve its duty if lands on my hand.

The same reason why there are Skylines in US, why there are RHD imports in US...because we want them!

You must be doing really well in China.
Are you working for a US company? Or making US dollars over there?

Nah, I got my own family business doing import/export here. Not too fantastic, but I can live comfortably here. My dad just picked up a Fuga for $75,000 USD, aka Infiniti M35 with full option...acutally a very nice price, only 20% markup.

Cars are acutally more expensive than houses here. For a 4,000 sq feet house with 2 garage cost the same as the M35

I spent a month in GuangDong, back in October 2005 and I saw only one silver Integra with USDM front with China plates in Foshan.

I was afraid to drive when I was there because the traffic is insane. There are lines on the road but nobody follows them.. people just go with the flow. You have motorcycles and mopeds just everywhere weaving around. But at night when there is very little traffic I could see myself just ripping it up if I had my ITR there. It would be like your own private raceway.

hehe...I was scared shitless too when I just got here. Not to mention driving, just riding I would have to hang tight to the oh-**** handle. Now...after maybe a couple weeks of careful driving, you'll learn the rhythem of those damn mopeds, motorcyclists, cyclists, flying pedestrians and grandmas crossing the highway. I feel very at ease right now, and I'm positive my avg speed is acutally alot higher than driving in the States....cuz, I get to drive wherever I want ignoring all the lines -- hey! everyone else's doing it!

I avg 80mph on non-highways, over 100mph on interstates and 40-60mph on city streets.

More roads...there are lots of mountains in China, almost one every few hundred kilometers away. And since all the ancient ppl all felt like putting up temples and other cultural landmarks up on mountains, all moutains in China have roads leading up to the peak. And these roads are very well maintained because on the weekends, mountain hiking is a very popular activity for Chinese family.]

These are mountain roads in deserted areas...no fences or anything. You trip, you die!

Well, plates is a different thing here in China. There are several classes of pates...

It reveals who the person is, his/her social class and power You can get military or police plates and be reckless and pay nothing at toll booths.

He has special plates from outer state, so he would like me to cover it. If cops spot outter state cars, they like to make him pay for just-because fines. Just like how state troopers like to pick on outer state drivers so the accused won't come back for court date and force to pay by mail.

Besides, he's a New Yorker with Rs...so am I, it's a tradition to cover plates even we are on Mars. And China streets is filled with riced out Honda Fits/Jazz, which can easily utilize a B18C5.

The best is the left hand turns out of side streets.. where you just push yourself out there.. and watch all the cars go around you. It's like throwing a big stone into a river.. the water will still flow right around you so you just keep pushing until you get into your proper lane.. lol.. I loved watching that..

I think I may be going back in Oct/Nov again this year.. it would be amazing to see an ITR there.

Right on, the rules you need to learn before driving on China streets!!! I am now a taxi-killer, they can't out push me anymore.

Rule #1, Straight moving cars yield for cars making right, left turns or U turns, do not expect them to even look at you when coming out!!
Rule #2, Do not yield to pedestrians, they will simply come in as waves!!
Rule #3, It's Ok to run red lights or travel backwards at night!!
Rule #4, Always cover your plate with paper and tape on the highway and take them off before toll booth.
Rule #5, Put up your highbeams whenever you could!!

With these 5 rules, you'd become an excellent driver in China

Some roads suck, a lot of the highways are glass smooth since they are BRAND new. You just have to watch out for the idiots driving on them...the reason there are so many horrible drivers in China is that most of them didn't learn how to drive until they were at least age 30

Ray, I thought YOU could import a secondhand car for personal use at a lower tariff rate under the new regs?

Oh, and Fit FTW!
