Default Polishing vavle cover?

Not sure if this goes here or not. I have a DA (All stock motor) I was wondering if I can polish my vavle cover...I want to do something with it, either in the line of painting it, or polishing it. Is it possible to polish it, can i sand the ?humps? (not sure how to word it) flat to get a even surface?

Sure you can polish it, but you can't get rid of the "humps." You could alternately buy a '96+ B18B or B20B/Z valve cover and polish that if you're looking for a smoother look.

Yes, the 96+ valve cover would fit, you would just need to plug the hole on top.

and here's a better pic of the fitting/hole you'd have to plug

Either get some kind of rubber plug, or have that plastic elbow in there with something over the end.

Heres my polished valve cover... it gets dirty pretty easy. I would just painted it alot easier than polishing one.

polishing is a nice touch if you can keep it up but it's honestly the most tedious thing i've ever dealt with, even on a set of wheels, i couldn;t imagine it in the endinge bay. But if you get it bead blasted you can sand it smooth and polish it

yeah i polished my hx rims and that took me two days...its nearly impossible to sand it down with a sander..had to do it all by hand...i bought the sander but never really got to use it...thats why i wanted to give my valve cover a try

i did my special edition last summer and took me i say a good 5 or more days to do thats takin off the old paint a whole lot of sanding, plenty of paint stages, and plenty of clearcoat.. over the weekend i did my valve cover took 2 days to do.. I guess I'm just a bit **** when it comes to things like that, definetly need a whole lot of patience and elbow grease and once its done its all worth it

i polished my A20 Valve cover last winter... it took a good 3 days of sanding i did it by hand ( no dremel) just spray on the aircraft remover and leave it ...it just wipesoff. after sanding the F*(K out of it.. use Mothers Polish and buff it .. the more you buff the shiner it gets.. i give major props to a guy that does it its not an easy job .. makes painting looks like ***** wrk
