Default Prelude won't crank

I just finished putting my motor (h22a4) back into my 93 prelude. Everything went smooth for the most part. I went by the book. When i tried to start it for the first time it didnt even turn over. I heard nothing from the stater. All the accessories work. Now i did use the battery from my integra because the prelude battery was dead. It only had about half the cranking amps as the prelude battery. Could that be the reason for not starting? I would think i would at least hear something from the starter. Any ideas? Im gonna get the starter bench tested tomorrow probably to rule that out.

Even with the Integra battery it should at least crank slowly or tick or something. I guess I'd double check all the wiring

is there a wire that goes to the base of the pattery tray. Theres a screw there that looks like it could be a ground. How many grounds are there and where are they?

there is a ground wire under your intake manifold and if you don't hook it up the car won't do anything when you try to start it, check that, hope i helped and good luck

+2 For the ground wires

I can remember my first swap as a weee lad. I spent days diagnosing a similar issue, I found out later the ground for the ecu....bolted to the thermostat housing on my old CRX was the culpret. Too much corrosion had caused the ECU to not ground properly and so the engine never turned over.

There's a ground wire that attaches from the battery to the block and to the frame of the car

Damn those are huge pics...Anyhow, in the last pics with the red arrows, the bottom hole is for your ground, and the top one is for a brace that holds your wires. Where you have the ground wire hooked by your battery tray is wrong same with the one hooked on the other side of your motor to your motor mount. That's the one that connects to your valve cover

sorry about the huge pics. i think i fixed them now. So the wire that i have going to the starter should go to the bracket on the tranny? which way do i have to switch the motor mount wires also?

pics are still huge...

1) Yes, the wire on top of the starter goes to the bottom hole on the tranny

2) Do you have a positive wire from the starter to the battery?

3) Check your main battery fuse and be sure that's not blown

4) What's your email address and I'll foward you pics that I took with my camera phone

not a problem...Pics have been sent. That spot on top of the starter is for a bracket that holds your top radiator fluid hose

you think u can send them to my other email, this one doesnt allow me to view the pix in the email. it opens them as an attachment and they are too small to see anything 1"x1" pretty much. My other email is Buddah416@aol.com
Thanks

that didnt work either, still too small. Heres what i did though.

I put the ground that was on the starter to the tranny
The thermostat ground is hooked up right
The battery fuse is fine
The positive wire is connected to the starter
Now on the motor mount, There is one thicker wire and one thin wire. I put the thicker one from the valve cover to the motor mount and switched the thin wire from the motor mount to the body. Does that all sound right?

You're talking about the thin and thick wire that are connected with each other right? The thin wire should go from the side of your valve cover to the body of the car underneith your EGR vaccum hoses, and the thicker wire from the body to a spot right by your dip stick and PS bracket...There aren't any ground wires connected to your motor mounts...

Ok, i just got a brand new battery and the starter works fine. I had to improvise with some extra wire for the valve cover grounds because mine wouldn't reach the way you have yours set up. I tried to start it and still nothing. No sound at all from the starter.

heres how i have the ground

Finally got it to run. I have Phantom pad on the ignition system which you have to press while turning the key. One of the wires came off. I fixed that and it started right up. Now all i have to do is wait for the speed sensor to come and put some tranny fluid in and i should be ready to roll. Is it normal for the header to smoke when u start it up for the first time? mine was smoking and it was coming directly off the header tubing.

Glad to hear your car started up...The reason your header is smoking is cause you probably got oil on it from your hands and it's just burning off
