Ok so I broke my axle last night and I just want to make sure my differential is ok. The teeth and housing look ok, but there is this weird plate that goes between the 2 axles that has some play if I reach in with a screwdriver I can move it a lil, it doesnt move a whole lot but it has like 1mm of play. Is this normal or is the diff messed up? Its LSD so i can see right thru to the other axle. The thing i can see thru is what is moving a lil...

 

yeah that is normal, the very center should have play

 

whew ok the axle seal prolly is just toast now

 

What part of your axle broke? Might not need a new seal, ive never had to change one

 

cv boot ripped, and the axle seal was already broken
