Default BLOWN Alternator Solenoid Fuse (10a) Replaced w/ 15a. Now Car Wont Hold Charge WTF Happened

Well I was at the mall the other day with my girl and the car was running mint before for a few days.

I went to start the car and the dash lights all come up but it wont crank, figured out the fuel pump wasnt priming, checked the wiring, its mint.

Check the fuses, the alternator solenoid valve 10amp fuse is blown, didnt think that could cause the pump not to prime so I replaced it, the car started, ran for 45 seconds and then stalled out. Fuse blew again

I replaced it with a 15amp fuse and the car started ran fine all the way home (25min drive)

I then swapped trannies in this car

Now my car can be jumped and started and runs strong. But my battery is not recharging, this is a brand new battery aswell, like 2 weeks old, big sucker (1050 cranking amps)

So WTF is going on with my car

your alternator just might be out? To be safe you could always take your battery to autozone, checkers, advanced what ever you have where you are and they can test it for you to see if its the battery, and if its dead they can recharge it for free if you take it where you bought it besides that it would probably be your alternator no charging it up meaning you might either want to check the belt or it could just be out

A fuse pops for a reason dumb *** , just a thought , but , why would you put a higher rated fuse in if a 10amp fuse keeps blowing ?
That's just asking to fu#k up your electrical system.
I'm not hating , just asking the obvious

Because I had to get home, it worked and I figured maybe the walbro 255 just drew some more power and was popping the fuse

I think it was a ground, seeeeeeeeeeeems to be fne right now

your voltage regulator probably fried on your alternator, therefor causing a huge amp spike and or voltage spike blowing your fuse, and yea, i think that was about the dumbest thing you could have done to put a higher amp fuse in, ive had electrical fires before, and trust me, it worth getting rid of the car after that, cuz so much stuff goes wrong and you have no idea what is wrong, and its the most frustrating thing ever, like the other dude said, im not tryin to bash on you, just tryin to prevent you from a huge headache

Just thinks Ohms law and picture the lil triangle thingy. if the circut is pushing more then 10 amps then the resistance in the circut is lower then it should be ,something is shorting out . I can understand being desperate and just trying to get home I just wouldnt be pimping that ride till you got it repaired correctly

As a Honda Technician first I would charge the battery on a slow trickle charge for a few hours to make sure the battery was still good and is holding its charge. forget the battery is new, a bad alternator not charging a battery will simply let the car run off the battery charge and sulphat the battery. just check the basics if its a maintnence battery pop the caps and see if the level is low It could simply be the battery over working the alternator becuase the level is low if its low use distilled water and fill each cell till its level is higher then the led plates then try recharging again if it wasnt holding a charge and do a charging system check. alternater should be charging between 13-14 volts with no load and im guessing on a little civic around 60- 80 amps under a load.

you need to run ur walbro pump of a relay and fuse from battery. use the stock wires a triger wires. your going to melt your **** one day if u don't the stock wires can't handle all the amps the walbro demmands. your wire probably gets hot one day it will belt or something..

How exactly do you fill a bttery with water? Does it have to be distilled water?

well if you dont see any caps you can remove simply with a pocket screw driver then its a maintanence free batter and you cant. and yes it has to be distilled water. Your probably better off just taking it to your local shop and have them do a charging system check
