Need some tip…….
How do people take off the crank pulley? I took it off once at my automotive class with a heavy-duty impact gun, but schools over so I need some tip to take of my crank pulley to replace my timing belt cover. I barrow a 27 gallon compressor with my impact gun but that didn’t work. Any good advice will be appreciated.
this isnt proper but sometimes u just have to do it. Get a friend in the car put the car in gear and have him hold the Breaks hard. while you losen it with a large breaker bar.
alos some pullys have holes were u can insert a dow locking pin. but not all of them

So is you put in gear and press the break, the pulley wouldn't move correct?
and do something Joe said.

The school one worked but it took a lot of time. We were using the impact gun for like 20 min or so. The 27 gal (about 130 psi) compressor didn't really work cuz it needs to charge and the school one doesn't.

here's my homemade crankpulley removal tool. After i put this into the pulley, i hook up 2 10" extensions to my breaker bar, put a 3' piece of gas pipe over the breaker bar and jump on it. This pipe wrench prevents the crank from spinning.

gas fittings from home depot. It's just a coupling, nipple, and reducer that happens to work well.

Ok, I tried this but the pulley seems to move and when I force it, it just rock back and forth. Would it just lock up or does it suppose to stretche back and forth?
