Default Differences between Suomy Spec-1R and Spec-1R Extreme?

i currently have a shoei, but the new rf-1000 and x-11 don't fit my head like my tz-1 did. i want to buy a second helmet and i've looked into a few helmets and did my research and i'm 95% sure a suomy will be my next lid.

so i'm looking at the two and from the description the only thing i can tell that is different between the two models is they have different designs and graphics. i went to the suomy website, and the description between the two models are pretty much the same. also, the spec-1r extreme is about $150 more. also, is it worth it to shell out that extra $150 for the extreme? i was at a local motorcycle shop and they only had the spec-1r extreme lids in stock and it felt great, and was just wondering if the spec-1r compares as far as fitment.

one last thing. how do you pronounce "suomy"?

the only difference is the grahpics and shield (does anybody know if the extreme shields fit the regular?)

He is right, But im unsure if the Shilds fit?

Have you tried one on? They really fit like the X-11, They are more suited for a Oval head!

Read this:

Fitment runs small.

The Extreme has some pretty agressive venting that the 'regular' doesn't have. A lot of people say that earplugs are a must for anything over 70 while you're wearing the Extreme.

*edit* Have you run the gamut of Arai head shapes to see if you like anything they make?

My brother has the extreme and I didnt notice the noise much at all. Another difference between the two is the 1-r has the little fin on the back.

The Extremes have more aggressive venting, and also have alcantara cheek pads. Also i think the fit is slightly tighter. I have an Extreme and my friend has the regular Spec 1R and mines a little tighter. I love my Barros Extreme...too bad I can't use it till next season Be safe everyone!

Kneedraggers led me to believe the sheilds are interchanagable but I don't know for certain.

FYI on differences...

The venting has been improved, with the addition of a center, forward facing vent. This vent is very effective at forcing air inside the helmet. This is a high flow helmet. The top spoiler has been redesigned to allow better air flow, and keeps the helmet planted at speed. During our in-house tests, the Extreme felt solid at more than 150 MPH.

ATTENTION: If you're looking for a helmet that can be worn without ear filters (Plugs), then don't even think about this helmet. However, if you're looking for a top of the line track, or race helmet, this would be it.

I have the spec1r extreme, and it is loud as hell. My ventura is much more quiet, but the venting is not as good, obviously.

I find the sizing to be different. The sheilds are the same and the ventational is alot better in the extreme.

I love my xaus extreme. You get used to the noise quite quickly.
