Default Well this was a short season :(

**UPDATE June 22nd**

Last surgery went flawlessly. The doctor said everything looks perfect. I'm so stoked. The last surgery was a bone graft in which they took some bone from the outside of my right knee (my good leg) to replace the bone I had lost on my left fibula. My left leg has no pain but my right knee is extremely sore. Anyway should be a smooth recovery from here on out. I'm not on crutches anymore though! Heres a pic from before my last surgery...it's not pretty...

**UPDATE June 15th**

Yesterday the doctor took me off my crutches...ankle is stiff but it's a relief to be walking again. Just got home from walking around the mall for a few hours Last surgery is scheduled for the this coming Tuesday. Wish me luck! Spleen is fine now also! Should go pretty smooth from here on out

Well my season is offically over. On May 7th I was hit by a guy on an 05' GSX-R 1K after he lost control of a wheelie and compound fractured my tib/fib. So far I've had 3 surgeries and am currently awaiting a 4th to replace some bone which I had lost. According to the police report I was thrown 20-26 feet. I just remember waking up with an EMT at my side letting me know what happened. I was airlifted to our local hospital. I also have a grade 3 (out of 4) laceration on my spleen. Anyway the moral of the story is I have bad luck I guess...

Wow man, that blows. I wish you the best! It could have been much worse, and just be thanful it was only your leg, and not your neck.

I was involved in a wreck, and had a simple fracture to my fibula as well. Basically sucks lol.

Any word on what will happen to your bike, or getting covered for medical bills, your bike, etc?

Best of luck to ya man, keep your head up. I know how you feel, trust me

Yes I'm thankful it was not my ankle. The doctors said I would have most likely lost my leg if it were. I was standing on the side of the road when it happened...my bike was far away and untouched. Medical bills are covered as well through my auto insurance...because the guy only had 15K liability

No he was not a rider in my group. He's a squid alright...a 40-year old squid ...I'm only 20

I'm also curious as to how you ended up in that situation. Was it a stunt event? Or a completely out of the blue occurrence where you had no idea he'd be pulling a wheelie?

Either way i hope you heal up fast and your next surgery goes flawlessly.

No it was more of a meet, and a few people were stunting. I watched one guy go by who was really good...and got blind-sided by the guy who got out of control.

Thanks man...the doctors said I will recover fully...but the downside is it will take 46 weeks...almost a year But it could've been worse...

My mom got spine injury in a car crash a few years back and she still takes pain meds. I can't bare to look at that and that alone sometimes makes me wanna stop riding. I know quite a few people who've had spine injuries one of them being my friend who got into a snowboarding accident and is now paralyzed from the waist down.

Do you think if you had a back protector, it would've helped?

Back protectors are designed to save you from the pavement. I doubt they would be of much help from a 400+ lbs. projectile/falling object.

laceration=cut

Id bet anything on the back wouldve helped in preventing the laceration.

would've helped but he wasn't riding. why would you just wear a back protector around for fun while not riding??

Just remember that it "could have been worse" and stay strong with the rehab. Good luck with the medical bills and ensuing court case against that moron.

definetely could be worse. guy I was riding with is probably not gonna be well for a year and a half if not more if he ever recovers fully. broken femur and shattered pelvis will do that to you. Not to mention his other injuries which will eventually heal
