Default knocking tranny

everytime i start my car and let it idle i hear this constant knocking noise, and once i push in the clutch the noise stops but makes this other noise. Could this problem be from my throwout bearing or pilot bearing or even both? Also wondering what would happen if i keep driving with this problem. thanks

Could be Throw-out bearing or possibly the input shaft bearing.

does the noise go away when you full depress the clutch pedal? or just slightly? I had the same problem when I just installed my clutch. I would hear a rubbing noise at idle and goes away when I barely tap on the clutch pedal. The noise comes back again when the pedal was fully depressed.

I adjusted the clutch (shorter rod length) and it's all fine now. what was happenening is that the clutch was adjusted too far in causing the throwout bearing to be too close to the pressure plate.

the noise goes away once the clutch is all the way in. it comes back at the point where the clutch would start engaging. would this cause me more problems if i keep driving like this? thanks

btw: sounds like it's time for a new clutch. since you're going in anyways, new clutch/flywheel, pressure plate, OEM throwout bearing and OEM pilot bearing

there's all kinds of clutches out there, some people swear by ACT and some swear by others. Exedy is ok, it's a low-priced OE quality clutch. I've always been a Clutchmasters Stage 3 guy. I've had it on my 94 LS turbo (now sold) and I just put one in my ITR about 3 months ago. I love it. but that's just me.

actually daiken makes almost every clutch. Almost every clutch out there is a daiken clutch with some other manufacturers' tag on it. They are designed and produced according to certain requirements/specs from ie. ACT, Exedy, Clutchmasters....etc...
