ahhh??? Either one of these will cause a loss of compression. My guess would be to check your compression and see what cylinder is low and then go from there.

yah if its a valve you will real quick... cuz the piston will be shot ta **** and well you will be missing a valve.. haha... that does suck though... try checkin your plugs before you pull the head off.. might be a good indication of what going on ... you know if its damaged or something... but honestly you would know if you dropped a valve.... i would say its your rings... but every situation varies...

how bought a leak down test put the cylinder in question at tdc and turn the pressure up on leak down tester, listen form the tail pipe and the intake, if it is not holding presure u will hear air coming out of either end in/ex.

if ur putting 100 psi and less than 80 psi is holding, and u dont hear anything out the in/ex ur rings r shot.

Remove your PCV valve and if you hear the air coming through there, bada bing bada boom, its the piston rings

good lord.

do you know what a leak down test is? the engine is not supposed to be running you remove a spark plug, put a compressor in the plug hole and pressurize the cyl and listen for leaks at 1 of 4 places.

1. intake
2. exhaust
3. pcv valve or oil cap
4. coolant. (looking for bubbles in the fluid at the rad cap).
