D4 lets you shift into 4th gear, it doesn't change gas mileage. If you want better gas mileage, check tire pressure, and drive granny style, dont rev over 2.5k rpm.

yes with an auto putting the car in D4 will allow the transmission to use all 4 of its available gears. One way of increasing gas mileage is look at the owners manual and look for a section about high speed driving (not all honda/acura manuals have this section). In this section it will tell you what the proper inflation value is for the tires if you are to be traveling over 100mph. Usually this value is 4 or so PSI higher than the normal inflation value. By "overinflating" your tires to this it will lower the rolling resistance of the tires slightly at the cost of some handling and braking degredation. Using this trick and driving like a little old lady will greatly improve your mpg.

yes I do, Also you should replace your O2 sensors, fuel filter, and do a good tuneup once in a while for good gas milage. dont have a lead foot and the cruise contol is your best friend. you dont need to be passing everybody when you drive, just keep it nice and steady.

those are definatly things that while they cost money to perform on your vehicle will add up at the pump
