fuel pump or main relay not working
so i had a problem yesterday:
driving home @ 65-70 mph right... all of a sudden when i gas it, my car seems to not accelerate but slow down? i thought i was pressing upon the brakes but i WAS on the gas pedal. so i drive normally again for a mile and this time i press the gas again and it slows again but my car complete slows itself down to a stop on the freeway...
i know it's not my timing belt or my ignition/spark... timing belt is fully intact with no slack at all and i am not able to pull it out. i'm getting sparks so... leads me to my fuel.
i cannot hear my fuel prime/hum noise. all i hear is a click in the engine bay when i turn my key on. i'm gutted so i can hear every noise.
is my main relay bad? or is my fuel pump gone? i tried looking for a fuel fuse but i'm pretty sure the wires are directly connected to the relay and pump to the ECU.

u can check ur main relay out. Take it out and open it up and look on the solder joints. if you see a faint white ring around then it's a main relay fatique. I posted a topic on this earlier with a pic of the inside of a main relay

A friend of mine had the same problem with his DA. He was driving fine then the same exact thing happened. He went through and replaced his main relay and fuel pump. Got no where. He would only get the clicking like youre talking about. After a while he got fed up with it and asked me to look into it. I slapped on a new distributor and it fired right up and has been running great since. Id look into that if I were you. Might be the same problem.
if u can't hear the pump prime, try that first.
or kick ur relay a few times. when my relay went bad in my EF, i still got fuel and my pump worked. but im not all too sure what the main relay controls...
