Default Attenion 94-97 Honda Accord owners - Benchmark

Looking to buy a 94-97 Honda Accord EX (manual). I just sold my 2000 Acura Integra Sedan GSR.
Reason - Don't want to worry about people trying to steal my car.

I want to make sure that owners 94-97 Honda Accords don't have to deal with there cars being stolen.

Any problems with the car?

Even though they are just as easy to steal the rate of theft is MUCH lower than your integra.
You are making a safe bet. If you want some extra piece of mind just get a security system.

It's a Honda so there is always a risk of it being stolen but not nearly as much as a Teg. Good luck finding a manual ex.. they are out there just few and far between. As far as problems with the 5th gen a few that come to mind are faulty odometers, slow power windows, broken climate control *****... nothing too serious just make sure that routine maintenance has been done.

I'd keep the integra and get some sort of anti-theft/car alarm device... but if u insist on getting a 94-97 accord.... they are reliable vehicles, and most problems with them, as has been stated before, are very minute.... but i have no clue about the theft deal with them... mine hasnt been stolen !

I had my Accord for a little over two years, never had a problem with people messing with it. Got a Civic, had it for 6 weeks and then it was stolen to never be seen again.

I can't wait until I get back into an Accord.

Yes, I agree. The Honda Accord isn't that HOT as the Integra.

Glad to hear it's really reliable.

Any other CONS for the 94-97 Accord EX.

I've found some EX manuals. Taking a look at them and at the smae time trying to get some opinions on the car.

Thanks

the gsr is much faster than the accord...the accord has bigger engine bay and much easier to work on..much more room..less aftermarket support for the accord but its getting there, accord is much more comfortable and roomy inside imo more luxury

love my 94... i wish it was a manual but its not worth it to convert. so nothing else but a sri for me..... power windows are slow and my power lock just stoped working.... and imo a clean droped accord with painted trim looks hella clean. much better than anything in the honda family of its time.

get a 98 or newer one. much less likely to be stolen over a 5th gen due to ignition immobilizer

I kinda don't like the look fo the 6th Gen Accord.

Kinda hard buying a Accord since I'm more into of a Acura Integra type car. Sporty.

I have both cars in coupe format and overall the 5th gen is very reliable but the 6th gen has it in several areas

1. quieter
2. more room inside
3. more comfortable
4. better A/C system

70k is nice a low milage car, especially for a 95. A couple of areas that can be trouble at 100k plus, but you still might want to take a look at,

1. CV joints
2. Master and slave cylinders

brakes are a bitch compared to working on an integra longer wheelbase rides better though.

I've got a 4dr 94 ex 5speed thats under construction and am almost more excited to get it done than the integra. You'll love the extra room under the hood to work on it.

I had my accord stolen and stripped and ironically no one has touched my integra yet. *knocks on wood*

just keep the egr port clean and you're good. left me stranded in bfe once, but it's an easy fix. common problem with the f series intake manifolds from what i hear. other than that rock on.

I have the stock security alarm (keyless entry thinggy) on my car with the blinking red light labeled "Security".

Has not been broken into/things stolen from it. Not really anything fancy to steal in that car though. I've left it in some sketchy neighborhoods too. Completely stock, I keep the interior clean, it has a Kenwood mp3 player in it......that's about it.

Yeah, so just keep it in an area where it won't become a target.

Also, have fun changing the front brakes. Hub over rotor brakes FTW

if my ex was a 5 speed i would definitly keep it..but alas, its not. Definitly DON'T roll down your windows during the winter....I was stupid enought to do it out of habit and they got stuuuuck as a ****.<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by drift4jesus &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">brakes are a bitch compared to working on an integra longer wheelbase rides better though.

I decided not to get the 95 accord EX Manual. It was a salvage title.

Anyway, I ran into a 95 Accord Auto.. What do you guys think of AUTO tranny accords?

I have an auto accord, its has 178k and runs fine. shifts harsh when cold but thats honda for ya.

Avoid any 98+ Auto Accord and their transmissions are garbage. Way to go Honda
