Default How hard is it to modify an exhaust not intended for your car?

I'm planning to upgrade my entire exhaust system and I'm having trouble picking out a good muffler (1993 Si VTEC). I would really like the Spoon one that resembles a world sport muffler. My problem is that they only make them for ek/dc/ep chassis as an axle-back system. Is it as simple as having a muffler shop cutting the pipe off the muffler and welding one that fits the car? Is there something I'm overlooking that would make it not look right, like sticking out too far from the bumper...etc. Thanks!

Oh, and I'm not asking opions about the exaust (i.e. no dood! spoon is overpriced...etc) is not appreciated, just facts please.

Yeah, a good muffler shop can do anything you want, but why would you not upgrade the entire exhaust??

Or why not just get the World Sport exhaust? Do you just like that the other one says Spoon on it?

Thanks for the imput guys! I want a SMSP header with custom 2.5" stainless piping straight to the muffler. I really like the way the muffler looks, and I have some other Spoon parts on the car.

I didn't think the Spoon muffler was 2.5" (please correct me if I'm wrong). There'd be no point installing a 2.36"/60mm muffler and bottlenecking your system just for brand loyalty.

Well it looks like you are right...its 2.38in. However, wouldn't this still be an improvement over stock due to the less restricted exhaust flow when compared with an oem muffler?

not to cut your dream down but if you are only going to add a header and exhaust you dont really need 2.5in exhaust. 2 1/4 would be fine, and you would have a little more bottom end. good luck dude spoon mufflers are quite rare.
