Turbo rebuild????
I recently just blew the seals out of my Garrett T3 turbo. I was wondering how hard it is to rebuild a turbo. I am pretty mechanically inclined, but i don't won't to tear it apart and realize I need special tools or anything. Any info would help thanks.
i had my turbo rebuilt 3 times and the last two i sat through to watch so i could learn how, but it takes some amount of specific knowledge and tools after watching twice i realized turbo rebuilding is best left to a pro.
besides the rebuild kit is most of the cost anyways

Yes you do but you can also mark the fins of the turbine wheels of where they were located in relationship to each other when you pulled it apart (like marking the blades accross from each other with a sharpie dot or something like that). Then when you put it back together line these two points up and it should...and I say SHOULD...still be balanced like it was before you pulled it apart.
Oh and by the way I just rebuilt mine with help from my friends dad that does it for like 15 bucks. The worst part was taking it off and putting it back on the car.
