Default installed some new brake calipers - not stopping well...

what are some ideas why... My ideas are that there's still air in the line, possible kinks in the lines and stuff on the pads (when I got the calipers brake fluid had leaked everywhere and gotten on everything including the pads...)... any other ideas? I've done brakes tons of times before and this is the first time I've had issues

What does the lever pull feel like? What kind of calipers did you switch to?

If the brake fluid got on the brake pads, you can kiss the pads goodbye. Get new ones.

+1.

Aldo make sure you get all the air out of the lines and use some brake cleaner to clean everything up nice.

My question is, who in their right mind sends calipers, lines, and an MC WITH fluid still in them??

the reservoir was half full.... I'm kinda bummed but the deal for the brakes was still good. I'll see if the lines have air in them and then I guess I'll goto the shop. Guess this is a good way to keep me off the bike until I get the new CCT's in

It'll always be one thing after another - brake lines, and then the CCTs, and then the fork springs, and then the RR, and then ...

Stoppies, huh? But how's that gonna make you go faster??

I already have a red superhawk. don't need to go any faster. do need to order my racetech stuff and call the guy about the rear shock - see if he can rebuild it. my RR is safe. it's a gixxer 750 one. Imagine that a suzuki part being better then a honda

Suzuki stuff is much better than Honda - squids who ride Suzukis constantly crash-test ALL the components.

If the lever action is firm, and they still dont bite. Its the pads.

does anyone have any tricks for bleeding brand new systems? I've ran my brakes dry before when bleeding but this is diff... My old bike I even rebuilt the caliper and got it working fine. this just doesn't seem to want to be nice one issue that I'm having is I had to seperate the pads some to fit them on which means I have to get the pads seated right with respect to the rotors.... I'm not sure if I'm doing it right

Your going to have to let the air come out of the lines and that takes time.

Assuming you have some pressure pull the lever firm then use something like a ziptie to hold it firm for a few hours. I bet when you come back a big bubble comes out when you bleed them.

You can also tap the lines to try and loosen up any bubbles that are stuck.
