actually no, it would be an extremely close race and it will depend on the driver too. not anywhere close to being "SMOKED"

so, 201 hp and 197 hp. 4 hp between the cars with identical drivers will net time difference in the thousandths.

like the majority of vehicles being compared, it is almost always a driver's race.

Keep it at the track...

Tell your friend to get the new SI and he can see for himself what can and will happen. That might be more fun than bench racing.

The new civic has LSD, so yaaaa 4 hp difference and one has lsd. I think the new Si is the same performance wise. And all you people saying you won one with cai and exhaust from a roll? Obviously your going to win, Intake and exhaust add a pretty decent amount of power on an rsx and the civic doesnt get to use its LSD, ...which will pull on you from a launch

my bro tells me that the new Si has same speed as a 02 Si but im not sure
unless he fixed up his motor

if they do have same speed then the RSX should smoke it

Well, unless he's blind or illiterate, even he can see that the new Si's 197 hp/LSD/6-speed/8000 rpm redline all make it significantly faster than the 02-05 Si (160 hp/open diff/5-speed/6800 redline).

But in comparing it to the Type-S, it's real close. I'd say it depends on driver skill, tires and weight (even including the drivers' weights and how much gas they have.. I mean, gasoline in their tanks.. lol). If anyone really wants to drag race the two cars head-to-head, they should do three runs, and then switch drivers and do three more.

Get them out on the curves, though, and it may not be so close. The new Si's addition of the LSD and its revised suspension geometry account for a lot.

I just wish Honda had kept "SI blood" pure by keeping it in a two door hatch or coupe... the four door grocery-getter in SI trim will definitely boost sales to a larger market, but what of us that want something everyone DOESNT have? The '07 Type R, arguably, is to be the nastiest R yet... blinged from the showroom floor... and yet we wont even get it here in the U.S. ... AGAIN. :::sigh::: Personally, and feel free to flame away... the DC5 and the EP3 (even with its shortcomings) are the last of a pure race, worthy of any Type R or SI badge. Just my .02 ...

Dunno... while everyone was all about the DC2 and EK9, i was into Ludes... so i could not agree OR disagree with you. But having owned some kind of Honda since the 79 model year... i can state my opinion about the SI and Type R badge and feel confident. I happen to own an '06 Civic LX, and like the body style alot, but chose that car because of Hondas intent to do a two and four door SI... i chose the '05 EP3 (even though so many people say its "slow") because i wanted something that said "SI" to me... a four door '06 SI does not. So i have the best of both worlds. The new, and the "old". The last true two door hatch that doesnt come "ready to run", or have enough room to cram four kids and a weeks worth of groceries. But you know what they say about opinions...

X2.

The RSX is much sexier anyway. Though I'm superficial.
