um...did i buy a ex/si tranny?
i think when i still had my crx hf tranny(with a bad bearing) and im going 70 mph on the highway my rpms in fifth gear were about 1k rpms or so.
ever since i changed out my tranny im getting 3k rpms in 5th gear going 70 mph.
so did i get a ex/si tranny instead of an hf?

from what i read i got the smaller bearing tranny and that would signify a dx, hf. but im getting 3000rpm at 70 mph...so thats confusing me. im running 185/65 or 60/13

but my civic ex runs at the same rpm and its only an inch bigger on the rim size. shouldnt make that much of a difference would it?

Rim size doesn't matter, it's overall diameter including tire. 13 inch with 65 is just as wide as 14 with 55, adleast I think (crosses fingers that he can still talk to tire talk).

Tire sizes do not affect speedometer/tachometer reading ratios. They only affect actual ground speed vs. indicated speed.

Yes it will. All '88-91 USDM axles are the same on the transmission end. The difference is at the hub end.

is there any way to tell besides "what your rpms are at a given speed" and taking the transmission apart (the code on the tranny it self)?

some of the older trannies dont have numbers on them, or they had stickers which, by now are mostly worn off.

SL3 is usually a 91 DX transmission - the SL3 tag is on the top of the case - not on front like other L3s
